I am currently working on a '57 Chevy body for our Vintage Pro-Track class. We actually run two Pro-Track (H and R) classes and I will use a recently overhauled chassis for both classes.
The Vintage NASCAR class ('50s and '60s American iron) allows the wheels to protrude outside the body work and limits all cars in class to a specified track of 3.05 inches. I did not like the look of the body after the front and rear wheel openings were hogged out. The larger wheel openings interfered with what would have been the extensive amount of chrome molding on the sides of the '57. I decided remove the chrome. I first used a file, then 400, 800, 1000, and lastly 1500 grit wet/dry sandpaper to finish the job.
Below are a few images of the car in progress. I will update this thread as progress continues.
