We use the Sprints Plus chassis for several divisions, from skinny vintage modifieds to Indy Roadsters. They aren't Womps, so where in the forum do they belong?

On another slot car forum they are saying it's getting hard to get the Sprints Plus chassis but that's not true. REH has plenty of chassis and will continue to have plenty of chassis, what they don't have is the rear tires to make the kits. So if you need chassis or bodies just have your local raceway contact REH in Cincinnati.

We actually carry a 16.5 X 7 that we created for our guys that were building vintage F1 cars. Part number  IW16.57.

There is a new manufacturer making adjustable wheelbase like these: LVJ Chassis

Unless I am mistaken all these chassis are only good for 1/32. In order to use Sprintsplus under a 1/24 Indy car, you have to cut it in half and lengthen it. I believe I have looked at those new frames and they, too, are too short for anything but 1/32. Kind of a shame they don't have another 3/4 inch so they could fit under a 4 inch wheelbase 1/24 indy car. Still have the front axle holes too wide to fit inside the body, but it would make an easy chassis for guys that don't solder and don't mind the front axle holes outside the body. I have cut and soldered a few for guys that want to build Indy cars with my resin bodies, but I wish these guys like Eagle would just make a front section a little longer and narrow the axle holes to inside the body. Then their same rear section could also be used for 1/24.

The LVJ goes out to 3.75 comfortably with the included piece.  He does have a longer nose designed for up to 4.5 inch wheelbases.  The width is the same though, because he hasn't had any interest in narrowing it so far.

Missed this thread for a couple of days while traveling.

I am constantly trying to simplify Slotblog's forum structure, rather than adding new subforms, as it seem some viewers have difficulty navigating it as it is now.

And while the Sprints Plus chassis is common, not sure it is is (or was) as widely used as the Womp chassis. And I really don't want to start a precedent of creating new subforums for individual chassis brands or types.

Let me suggest that we make a place for the Sprints Plus discussion in a pinned thread under 1/32 Model Racing. In fact, I'll just pin this thread there now.

And if new chassis similar or equivalent to the Sprints Plus unit come to pass, we can re-title the pinned thread to indicate the area of interest. Have edited the thread title to indicate the broader purpose.

Since I modify all those frames for 1/24, I don't care where they go, as long as they pop up when I come to the site and look at new posts.

Stretching any 3-inch wheelbase frame is easy using the piano wire and K&S brass strip/angle materials and retro methods of frame building.

 

If you run 1/24, the JK or Parma/Champion Indy cars already have 1/24 bodies. The JK spring steel Sprint car kits are still out there as well.
