Been catching some "grab-bag" ebay deals. Really not sure what your getting till you have in hand (even if there are photos) but hey it's an adventure !

Ok so here are some photos

I know the one on left is a russkit 23 but the one on right?

DSCF0002.JPG

Notice that what little paint you can see is similar to the R-23

It isnt a repainted can as best I can tell

DSCF0003.JPG

As far as Ive ever known Russkit never made an can drive motor

the obvious would be but the can tabs have never been bent(?)

DSCF0004.JPG

but the arm bearing does look like it  might been changed/soldered on?

Havent put any power to it yet needs brushes and springs

So any ideas out there?

2nd Motor says its a "Bobcat" but modified?

DSCF0008.JPG

what about this label onside?

DSCF0006.JPG

shot of endbell

DSCF0010.JPG

Last 2 motors

the silver can one ? the endbell has "COX" on it ?

I know the other is a more current style black can ,

it was rusted up but a few minutes of penetrating oil freed the arm up.

So, those well informed in motor history please share your thoughts !

Looks like they recovered those from the Titanic :D First one is a Russkit "22" that someone converted using a can drive arm. Hard to tell what they put in there for a bearing. Not sure on that Bobcat. Did stickers come with the Magnum magnets? I don't know. That may explain it. Definitely played with. The Cox motor is a late Nascar that was used in the Super Cuc. That last Mura looks like a shorty, don't know much else about these "newer" motors.

The black can is a Mura "Green" C-can. I believe it was designed for them by Bob Green. Mura put everything from unbalanced Grp. 12 to open class arms in these motors at various times. Cleaned up, it might become a very good motor.

The yellow bobcat 36D has a balanced arm and is can drive, it should have a non balanced arm and white endbell as standard. Plus aren't they endbell drive from factory?

Thought the magnum 44 magnets were only sized for the 16D's?

They should all clean up and tune up well :good:

Mura "Magnum 44" magnets were available for FT-16D and FT-26 size motors...I don't recall ever seeing any for the 36 size motors? Must be a "custom" job, aye? :)

The Cox motor is a Super Nascar...as Joe said, came in the Super Cuc...but they typically didn't last very long...no cooling holes? What were they thinking?  And Doc has said the floating gimbal bearing in the can would typically fail.

The "Mura" was the only one really rusty, the Cox is just my amateur photo capabilities to get a close shot off hand zooming in.

Anyone have photos of the Cox/Super Cuc?

As far as the Big Bobcat, the tabs do not look like they ever been bent.

Same for the "odd" russkit, I too figured it was modified but then tabs dont look bent either.

"Bobcat" is a model name of the K & B product line.

Came across some motor pics on FB,  a Revell  "Fire Ball",  at first thought it might match motor in #1 can drive but bearing housing  dont match.

Paul, that first motor is can drive but doesn't have any means for can-mounting. The Revell motor is a newer motor. It could be can-mounted with a "C" clip or a thin brass strap like Cox often used. My guess is that first motor has a Russkit 23 type can with the blind bushing changed out so the can-drive arm could be used. I bet that arm is newer than the motor setup it's in. The can bushing in this motor appears to be soldered in from the outside, but I'd have to look at a clearer photo to actually tell. The solder terminals & spring posts on this motor's endbell are in different positions than those on your Russkit 23 & the Revell motor. This tells me it isn't a Russkit 23 endbell on it. The can tabs may not appear to be opened, but I know they can be bent open & closed once or twice before they break. Been there, done that.

#1: Russkit 22 or 23

#2: K and B Royal Bobcat with rewound, balanced and probably Mura Magnum 44 magnets.

#3: Champion Certus?

#4: I think it is a Revell Red Streak

Both Russkit's have been modified greatly.
