Gentlemen, Ladies, disciples of the Kingdom of Thingies....

With renewed vigor and energy, I propose to showcase some of my beloved thingie slot cars here and welcome anyone else to do the same and get some activity going here at SLOTBLOG!

I plan but do not build any of these to be shown soon, as I try to work with the true geniuses of the art of building slot cars like Jairus Watson and Paul Wolcott and as well as motor Master Havlicek! So without further to do...

First up, an unseen work of art that combined my planning with the incredible meticulous chassis built by craftsman Pablo or as we all know as Paul Wolcott. The body painted by Master arteest Jairus Watson. I present here the first of others to come in the Thingie Can Am types...the Detroit Diablo!

IMG_2478-vi.jpg

The body is the PINNER GT made and reproduced by Body Grand Master Gene's World or Eldon Adams

More photos to come of this beauty and work of art.

More different Thingies to come here as well. Join in...!

Lord have mercy.  I'd be afraid to run such a beautiful body as that in anger.  The tri-color livery is deadly cool, as is the actual artwork.

What a combination, your planning, chassis by Pablo and paint by Jairus add on HPower motors!!!

Will have to search out some Thingie bodies for some builds of my own :good:

Next up is the pseudo Can Am racer from legendary body producer Lancer and Master mold maker Lloyd Asbury, the DRIFTER! This magnificent reproduction body was made by Victor Ferguson of Truescale!

Chassis is built by Master Jairus Watson and also the magnificent paintwork! The chassis build is featured on the Jarius Toys In the Attic thread found elsewhere on this forum.

Paul.

I use Tamiya Ball Bearing Aluminum O-Ring Wheels on my thingies. They were made for their line of 4WD cars that run on small tracks.

I can provide additional information if you need.

Bill,

I am hoping that Pablo will post additional chassis photos since he labored on this superb chassis!

Still hoping that others will post some of their own Thingies for all to see here!

Next up is a wonderful thingie originally produced by Lancer and reproduced brilliantly by Truescale, the WHISPER!

This body is wider than usual but is awesome nevertheless. The chassis and paint were from Jairus Watson. I have in years past approached other Masters to build some of my project cars and only Jairus, Pablo and Steve Okeefe have agreed. There are others that may be asked one day...

Sorry David, didn't know you were allowing ALL to post their cars on your thread.
Very happy to oblige. :)

Here is one that I happen to love being it's the first of many Detroit Sliders built.
P1010003-vi.jpg

This one is unique in that I glued and trued up both black and orange rubber to have  a unique striped tire going on out back.
P1010007-vi.jpg

P1010011-vi.jpg

Really wish I had the time to build another one of these.

Here is the chassis sans body.

Okay...it is deader-than-a-door nail here! You could hear a body mounting pin drop!!!

Alright, the last one for a while as this is getting futile I believe.

Behold, thought to be the MOST dangerous slot car in the World...the EXECUTIONER!

Built entirely by Jairus Watson the Master of many skills. The body is another Lancer creation called the SPOILER and faithfully reproduced by Truescale.

btw...this slot car is NOT deadly at all.

David, I think we lost a lot of old friends to "Facebook". The old crowd is just plain gone with the wind.
endbelldrive still pops up every now and then.

lowrider is still active with proxy racing on Facebook.

PdL isn't very active here, but still pops up when we really need him :)

etc.

I look back on Slotblog and Slotforum posts circa 2006-ish and see a lot of guys were really enthused.

Does anybody else sense that, or is it just me ?

Me, I'm still here and as addicted to building as ever. I just finished a pair of thingies in my "Pablo's Build's".

The Go-Kart didn't seem to really turn on many people, but I think the owner will be "tickled pink" :laugh2:

Here's one I did for Tom Scott a loooonnnngggg time ago.
P1010854-vi.jpg

P1010853-vi.jpg

P1010852-vi.jpg

Tom was a little luke warm about the concept but the body was so scratched and beat up that my only option was to put most of the paint on the outside. Thus the large eyeball.

Pablo,

I already have that Jupiter body waiting as well as others.

I haven't decided to plan and build anything new for a while. I do have about a half dozen projects already planned, just haven't made a decision on them yet...

Do I really want them or not (yes I do!).

Hey David, think about it soon because I need a theme for issue #5 after January.
Issue #4 is hard body stuff but... I would love to do a couple pieces on Thingies and have you do another write up about our free form babies.
