I know there are probably no specific answers to this, but what scale (in general) are Thunderjets? I know they vary by car, but in general what scale would best encompass the Thunderjet line? True HO is 1/87 and would be too small, so 1/76, 1/72, or larger?

Paul,

HO slot cars are generally considereed to be 1/64 or thereabouts.

The need to fit the bodies on a standard chassis makes the actual scale not much of a concern IMO.

Never forget that first place goes to the racer with the MOST laps, not the racer with the FASTEST lap

Early T-Jets were indeed 1/87. Tis the later day "modern" cars that fit the 1/64 scaling. Don't know the timing of the switch. Sure someone will.

My apologies guys, it was a loaded question or at least one that was not clearly asked.  I was curious what everyone thought the "average" scale of a Thunderjet would be.  But I completely agree that they are far to varied to fit the chassis to have a set scale, but for my reference I think I'll go with the agreed upon 1:72 or 1:76. At least in comparison to the larger "HO" cars.

Thanks Everyone,
Paul

BTW the scale switch occurred in 1970/1971 with Tyco "S" and Aurora AFX series.

Mike Vitale (MEV Originals) calls his wonderful t-jet bodies 1/76 so if you choose that, you're in good company
