Possible changes to GRP 10 / LMP class for 2016/17
With the results showing the winning Grp 10 total of 193.6 and the top 4 GT1 totals
surpassing that total during the past OCC race at Hot Wheels Haven on 12/12/15, we
need to look at how we can make changes to separate the classes a little further.
Weve had three suggestions so far.
1. Change the motor Im not in favor of this as it is the only remaining builder
motor available in the series. Not to mention, many racers have already had to
put their C-can programs into mothballs because of the speed of the Proslot
FKs and a lot of money is now sitting idle.
2. Change the body style A few people had suggested running the center rib
style in GT1 but that had been discounted in the past. However, if we use
them in Grp 10, we may see an increase in lap totals but Im not positive the
totals would eclipse the GT1 totals. This would be the most economical way
of separating the classes finding a body style between GT1 & GTP.
3. Change this to an open wheel class. Open wheels are not that prominent in the
flexi world locally. I cant say if theyd be better or worse.
Heres where Im looking outside of our normal box. Would there be any interest in
running the open wheel flexis with the current Grp 10 motor rules as a replacement for
the existing Grp 10 flexis? Open gearing with any pitch could also be considered. This
would be an alternative, similar to what retro is doing with the CanAms and F1s.
Im sure this will open debates amongst participants and non-participants but thats where
we can get ideas on if this is a viable option. Were also open to any other suggestions to
create a separation of the 3 OCC classes.

This will also be posted in the OCC Facebook page for discussion.
