I can't swear that this is the final, final version.  I caught a typo earlier today and these have supposedly been read by a number of people. There could be other typos.

The first few pages are mostly administrative stuff.  There is a page of General Rules that applies to all classes.  Then there is a page for each class.

Please direct questions to your neighborhood Florida Track Owner.

I'd like to see the interior rules clarified.

Specifically the classes that state:

"Interior may be molded plastic, Mylar, or paper."

Does "Mylar" mean one of those stick-on decal drivers?

Would the rule be correct if it was worded:

"Must have an interior.  Any Interior is allowed, including stick-on decal."

On the Series Guidelines page it says:

"Race format will be 2 minutes on, 2 minutes off for all My Series Mains."

Should it be noted that the Enduros are 5 1/2 on, 2 off.

On the General Guidelines page, regarding the motor mount on the C-21 chassis,

I suggest the current wording be replaced with:

"The back of the rear motor mount on the stamped steel chassis may be opened only enough to allow for full gear mesh."

(The current wording is:

"Rear motor mount on the stamped steel chassis may be modified to allow for proper motor
mounting and gear clearance but a portion of the mount must be retained.")

To me, the word "portion" makes the rule especially fuzzy.

---------

Note:  On the Enduro GTP page it says:

"May open the back of the motor mount only to allow for better gear mesh"

This wording is simpler and clearer than on the GG page.

On the General Guidelines page it says:

"All cars must have a minimum track clearance of .0625” under the rear of the chassis and gear

at the beginning of the race."

I suggest "at the beginning of the race" be deleted since, on the GG page, it also says "Drivers are responsible for keeping their cars legal at all stages of a race".

I told Bill and Greg a few months ago that this was the last year I'd be able to put this together. Starting a new gig in January that's going to require some weekend work.

I think they just found their new admin. Congratulations, Dale!

I'm not exactly sure how to "direct questions to your neighborhood Florida Track Owner" but it seems like this would be a better place to ask any questions and start a civil discussion.  That said here's a question that hopefully one of the My Series directors can answer.

Why are one piece front axles (i.e. "no stubbies") required in all classes?  I fully understand why they are required in the JK F-1, class but why in all of the other classes?  I know that a single piece axle is sort of a "retro / vintage / tradition" thing but that's not what My Series racings is all about.  If it's for "realism" it even makes less sense since no race car in recent history has had a solid front axle.  In fact the stubbies even look a little more realistic, just a bit like a suspension member.  Technically the stubbies actually work better since they stay soldered onto the chassis upright better than the when the axle just passes through the upright.

Other than this one minor point I think that the rules are very clear and easy to comply with, which in my opinion, greatly helps improve compliance and participation.

Dale:

Nice job with the rules chart!

Dale .... you have some mad skills!!  THANK YOU!!

I really wasn't trying to be a smartass -- it comes naturally -- but, I know that they'll need some help going forward.  I wish Marcus had shared some of the proof versions with you for comments before the final version.  It's amazing what a fresh set of eyes can catch.

Again, THANK YOU!!

Jay .... I think the "no stubbies" thing is one of those rules that has just been passed along from year-to-year.  No idea where it started.  Best guess is that it was directed at keeping the cars close to a RTR.  But the smoke got out of that bottle a long time ago.

I didn't intend to offend with my comment to direct questions to the track owners.  That probably is the best way to know that you've been heard.  The challenge is that Bill, Greg, Marcus and Ed don't post here much.  Maybe they "lurk" more than I realize .... I don't know.

Don't like it, don't race. It's pretty simple. I hate flexis no matter what rules so I don't run them.

Thanks for the response Rollin.  I guess with the way My Series is administered it would be best to try to directly contact one of the owners at their track.  However it wold be nice if the owners would monitor Slotblog to see if there was something that should be responded to.  The My Series directors could deliberate an answer in private via a private forum on Slotblog and then post their response to inquires in a public thread.  This is the procedure practiced by the IRRA Board of Directors and it works very very well.  I know that Greg "Cheater" Wells can easily set the private forum up if requested.  Just trying to help make the My Series even better.

Dale has made some good points where the guidelines should be cleaned up to be more coherent. Also, I have a suggestion. Since we had a disagreement on who won the endurance championship this year, the directors should make the following statement on page 4 more clear:

"The total of all races will be tallied at the end of the racing season. A racer may drop one race." and that statement goes on about a DQ. This rule goes back to 2011 (I have a hardcopy).

Recently, in an 8 race format series (2013, 2014, 2015 for example), My Series has been dropping two races. I think that the directors should nail this down more specifically.

EDIT: Actually for 2016 this situation must be decided upon because the series is broken up into three portions. The first 4 months, we are running 4 flexi car classes, the middle 4 months we are running only 4" NASCAR and LMP, then during the last 4 months we are running JK Indy cars and the endurance cars.

Writing rules is a tough job. Been doing it for years, USRA EAST, RC rebuild able stock motors, RC Street Spec racing, and Retro East. Seems there will always be things you need to clean up as different peoples interpretation needs to be clarified. The rules maker usually knows what he wants to lay down and assumes everyone reading them will understand the thought process behind them, it is a thankless task. Good sensible input is always good, like on the motor mount wording...

The cheat sheet is a great idea. Maybe include a picture or drawing of what cutting is acceptable on the motor mount.

The cheat sheet is a great idea. Maybe include a picture or drawing of what cutting is acceptable on the motor mount.

Maybe a drawing of the motor mount isn't needed b/c there is only one place on the mount that the motor sometimes
contacts which results in not being able to get the gear lash down to near zero.

If someone removes metal from anywhere else, it won't make any sense and they'll have some splainin' to do.

===================

The cheat sheet is just my version of the My Series Tech Check List that has been used at the races for as long as I've been attending them.

Judging by the past official Check List, mine will have more detail.
That will help me make sure I don't overlook something during setup.

BTW, I added a line (max width 3.25") and made a few other minor tweaks so here is version-2 for anyone who might find it useful.

Too bad we can't go to .050 rear clearance.  It won't slow tire sales either.

Yes, the track owners should have it.  It's included in the Guidelines.  It's the last page.
