Gentleman,

I hope I'm in the right place. I have recently come across about 10 slot cars and a bunch of parts from the early to mid '60s. My knowledge of slot cars is very limited (I remember going to the track as a kid'). So I figured I would ask the experts. I can post more pictures. I was told they were supposed to be very fast, and some are custom built. I can tell a couple have bodies from models they are the ones that are supposed to be able to do "wheelies" down the track. Would you be able to help me?

I also have a pile of HO cars and trains maybe you can steer me in the right direction for those also.

Thanks,

Show pics of the chassis/bottoms of the cars, they may be the most important!!

Eager to see some more photos, Ned...

And there are full-scale HO people here, also... :)

I guess you can tell photography isn't one of my strong suits. Maybe these will be better.

Some nice finds in that clutch of vintage slots. And please, no matter how much I offer... DON'T SELL THEM TO ME!

I do like the green controller though. :dash2:

Yellow car with tube frame Cox Lola T70, kind of rare and among most desirable of Cox cars. Not cheap, $400 up.

Chrome tube frame orange motor remnants of a Cox Gurney Ford chassis with Classic motor. Expensive chassis, but not with the mounts and crossmemebers cut off. Still maybe a little short of $80+

Chassis with black center section is a Riggen Jad and looks like it has one of their correct bodies. value? Never had much interest in this stuff, $50+ maybe.

Gold chassis is from a BZ Little Red Wagon not correct body, but for somebody with a body only it would be worth a few bucks $40+.

Brass tube chassis F1 body some scratchbuilder special no real collectability.

Brass tube chassis orange s/w motor Cox tube chassis kit?? $35+.

Silver motor s/w brass frame Revell space saver frame, not a big deal but the wheels on it are worth more then the chassis, $35+.

About what I would think most of it would sell for, but that varies day to day and hour to hour. Obviously the Cox Lola is the big deal here.

Hope this helps you and maybe keeps you from giving away some of the stuff for what you might think is a good price!!

In looking at this again, I see I left out two cars, the gray car with blue/star stripes has a Cox Iso fulcrum chassis, later version as used in Iso fulcrum kit cars and rtr 2E. I think it also has a set of K&B redline silicone tires. Chassis with regular tires maybe $40-$50. The redline tires by themselves might bring $25 or more.

The other brass pan type chassis is a later Riggen with a pretty good motor. Not real collectable, but probably worth $35-$50.

It is hard to estimate what stuff sells for. Now is a good time to sell.

Hope this helps

The BZ chassis could go under the silver Ferrari body (stars down the middle not original!) and be a proper BZ car.  Hard to tell value without really seeing if the body is straight.

Riggen Jad with blue body is Ferrari and same situation as the BZ Ferrari.

Cool stuff!

The blue cars are Riggen JAD cars with the Gator Iso chassis. Those go for a decent amount on eBay. Same with the Cox La Cucaracha Iso chassis.

Keep it all. Buy a decent 1/24 home track and some plywood. It is so much fun to bring these cars back to working order and do some laps. I rarely take any of my vintage cars to the commercial raceways. Just some laps with the power down and modern tires.

I can't thank you guys enough, you are a true bunch of gentlemen! I thought I would get one maybe two responses, but much to my surprise my inbox is full this AM. Thank you all.

Samiam, the 1/24 home track you mention would that by Revelll Americana Home Raceway? In this lot I have somewhere between 90' and 120" of it. See pictures.

Thank you Roger for your generous offer to help, I will be calling.

Some of the information is greek to me, but I'm learning! Thanks for helping an "Old Geezer" like me.

I also have a gazillion HO cars and a ton of track as well. Can I post that here, too?

I still can't believe fifteen replies inone1 day. Did I say Thank You?

Ned, the track you have is actually 1/32 scale. It is a very useable track with slots 3 1/2 inches apart. It is possible to use it for 1/24 cars, but usually they require outside borders to allow the wider cars room to slide without falling off the track. The slots are a bit close, but kind of work for 1/24 cars. True 1/24 tracks in the 60's had 4 inches between slots.
