The box showed up from Ebay Monday Night, finally had a chance to mess with it last night. I dig it

I plugged it in, and tested it out running the K&B Royal Bobcat in the Rat 427 Classic Cobra chassis...

The motor buzzed away happily at 5 volts, pulling 0.2 amps.

I cranked the voltage down to about 2.8 V and was able to get some nifty pics of the armature spinning...

Its a nice little unit, made in China, the classic chassis gives it some scale. It's intuitive to operate. I can already see that its going to come in handy for both slot and real car projects ;-)

Looks like a nice compact unit Robb.  What's the max output (voltage and amperage)?

And those are nice units. Filtered well against AC ripple.

Mine is 30V, 10A - too big for a slot car box.  Pushes my hudy tire machine better than my koford supply.

Great to teach motors how to swim.

Same as Charlie's, 30V 10A, $75 or so.

I am also looking at this as a possible new power supply.  Does this unit keep running the motor for a few seconds when you power it off?  Most of the units I am looking at have a couple of capacitors hooked to the output that must be drained before complete shut down.  Curious on how long they run after power is turned off.

Mark, no, but I back down the voltage before I shut it off anyway. the motor follows and stops running once I get below its minimum running voltage, which on that 36D bobcat is about 2.4 volts .2A
