A friend of mine owns a hobby shop here in San Jose and is looking to add one or two slot car tracks. I know of two tracks available in Texas, and also hear that the Carson City raceway is closing.

If anyone knows of other tracks that are available, please let me know. Thanks!

I spoke with Jim Shallow, owner of the Carson City raceway, and he confirmed they have closed the doors. He has a buyer in SoCal for the Hillclimb, but the road course and drag strip are for sale, although he is considering keeping the road course. If interested, he would like around $1800 for each; he got the $2500 asking price for the Hillclimb. He also has app. $15K in inventory he would like to sell as a lot instead of using Ebay. I do believe my friend has found a blue king in L.A., but I haven't been able to confirm.

Thanks for the help, and keep them coming!

Ted

Is the flat track what's called a Paperclip? A little work and that a four-car garage would make that a great club track. ;-)

That was a very nice, clean, well lit raceway. Too bad it couldn't stay in busines.

Ted,

Dwight still has the "Grass Valley" flat track that he nearly had up and running before getting his Kingleman.  That would be a good flat track.  The only thing it needed was braid and wiring and I think a drivers panel.  It was super flat by the time we got through setting it all up.

This is the only picture of the track that I could find so far....  It's not a great picture, doesn't show much of the track, only one corner of it...

Thanks, Mike. I thought Dwight might still have a track he was not using. Any idea what he wants for it or the length? Sounds like it will need substantial work to finish it up, but it does look like a nice track from the picture. Hopefully Andy and Dwight are on good terms, as I know they have done deals in the past.

I let Andy know about Dwight's track and he'll call him today. Turns out Andy has not acquired any tracks yet, but has a line on a couple, including the old purple track he owned back in the 90's here in San Jose.

If anyone else has a line on available tracks please let me know, and thanks for your help. Let's keep slot car racing alive in the Bay Area!

Eddie,

You might want to let people know how far you are willing to transport a track. The one you asked about on Long Island NY is around 2,700 miles from California.
