Based on recommendations I've seen here for the inexperienced, I plan on sticking with one manufacturer for tires - JK. I have no idea if they are the best but I have to have some plan to at least understand the grip issues when I'm at the track.

From what I've been able to determine from looking at the JK website and other websites the small hub Wonders are .400" diameter, the big hub are .460" diameter, the large hub are .510" diameter and the Big Daddys are .600" diameter. It appears from looking at past tech sheets that Wonder rubber is generally the choice. I didn't see any Big Daddys listed on the tech sheets so I am assuming that it is unlikely those will be needed.

I plan on having two sets of small and big hubs each of the .790" diameter tires and three sets of the .820" diameter tires trued to size with me. They'll be slightly oversized for practice time and final truing for the race. I'm running all three classes and practicing Thursday late afternoon to evening. If I need the .510" hubs I'm hoping to buy those at the track.

Am I heading in the right direction, realizing that JK is my choice of manufacturer?

.812" is minimum diameter for both CA and F1 at Tom Thumb.

Small hub JK Wonder has been my choice in the past.

Wonder rubber seems to be the rubber of choice lately. Tom Thumb typically has a more than adequate variety and supply of tires available on race weekend to meet the needs of track conditions that may evolve over the weekend.

Good plan, it can be a lot of money to have all kinds of tires purchased before you go to the track. Try calling, email, or text the track to see what most people are running there.

Thanks, Greg. I had not noticed the size requirement for F1. Cuts down on requirements.

It would be worth have a set or two of Kelly Retros for F1. Years past they have been the choice come race day for F1, but at the warm-up they weren't the best tire.

Seems as the track takes on more rubber the big hub Kelly Retro works great. With the fresher glue I'd go with small hub JK Wonders... JK does make a soft Wonder in the Big Daddy hub (only one ) also a good choice..

That Greg Fox sure is a nice guy. No need for anything under .812".
