What's the latest status on this website? The domain seems to be parked but you can still access most of the pages by directly linking to them. Has anybody reached out to Greg Holland about saving this material?

Well someone needs to but I wanted to check to see what's happening with it before it's too late.

There really is a good reason to have a hard copy - even DVD's...  Master file, sell copies. Appropriate technology does not need to be the latest technology.

Last I heard from him was five or six years ago, when he was selling off some of his cars, and was still semi-active on the site.

My timeline may be way off too, that's just an approximate memory!

I have sent him an email but have not heard back from him. I don't think he has done anything on that site in eight years and if you Google the site the domain has been parked.

I had a problem accessing the site six months ago. I got a new URL from Pablo and it's worked ever since.

Bill,

Does that URL still work today?

Yes the content is still there but the domain is parked. So that usually means it's not long for this world. If you type in http://www.vsrnonlin.../VSRN_Main.html it works

But try typing in just the domain: http://www.vsrnonline.com

Just saying ... Maybe he just needs to add a index.htm at the root and isn't really aware. I guess it's ok, either way I have most of the content.

Can 3D layout plans be used for the new 3D printing in order to make body molds?

That maybe better answered in another thread to the 3D guys but off the top of my head you might be able to generate a 3D image using some software program to create a master and from there to create a mold.

Greg contacted me and from what I gather the domain is still active but he does not have access to the server where the content is stored. He would need to transfer the domain to a new server but that may not be feasible at this time, as Greg has mentioned ad nauseam (LOL) it ain't free.

It would be a tragedy if we lost this resource! Dennis, are you now in discussions with Greg about a way forward, or are you just reporting on the current status?

At one time on his site there was a bunch of really early slot newspapers from the beginning of the commercial track area. It would be sad to lose those.

Well I broached the subject gently but maybe too gently LOL.

I understand he has backups but the site is no longer under his control so the provider could delete it at any time.

Unless he desides to release the content that's basically it.

The site has gone... expired.

Dennis, any ideas on salvaging some of the info?

Model Cars Magazine (UK)

For those of you who are not aware of the VSRN plans, they are a collection of plans that appeared in Model Maker and Model Maker & Model Cars Magazines (UK).

The original site that hosted them has expired.

The link provided here is from "The Wayback Machine" sight.

I have no idea how long they will remain available, so I recommend you download all that you are interested in.[

OK, I will commit to giving access to all the Model Maker plans via the Classic Slot Car Racing Association (CSCRA)site.

It will take me a few weeks to assemble the database from my downloads, cross-check it against the original VSRN pages, and then create the website pages (the easy part).

I will keep the community informed of progress via this thread and, no doubt, ask for your support and collaboration!

There are also the US Magazine articles. Will this also be hosted? If not maybe multiple efforts are required so that this important information is saved. Does anyone have the CD/DVD that was once available that I can borrow or purchase?
