Tech opened for the race about fifteen minutes ago.

If Chubby wasn't first in line, he was close, which suggests he's "ready to rumble." Probably not a good sign for the other competitors...

I was told there are 32 entry forms, but have heard that not everyone who filled out a form may race. Stab in the dark says 30 give or take. Once tech closes, I'll post the final entry number.

The camera position is a problem, too far away, and easily blocked.

It should be returned to the position facing the drivers, where it was for a short time on Friday.

Cheers and good luck,

Bill Botjer

It's Can-Am race day at SlotCars-R-Us 'The Track.'

Here's the format: 30 racers will compete in four Consis (or Quarterfinals), two 8-man races and two 7-man races, with alternate seeding based on last night's qualifying. The top four finishers in each Consi will seed into two 8-man Semis. The top four in each Semi will seed into the final Main.

The final Main will be three minutes on, two minutes off. All other races will be two on, two off.

Here's the results of last night's concours judging. Since there wasn't a five-year old girl in the building, some grey-haired, half-blind geezer from Norcross, GA, was tapped to select the top three in Can-Am concours.

concpod.jpg

L to R, third place: Paul Peterson, second place: Bob Hughes, first place: Jay Loftin (Bob Hughes paint).

Wanted to include a detail shot on the second place car's interior, which featured an added steering wheel segment. Most of the interior is done with vinyl tape rather than paint. Nice work, Bob!

Jay Loftin's Bob Hughes-painted Can-Am was the only Hughes paint in the class (except for Bob's own car, of course) and Bob gifted Jay with this coupe body in appreciation.

The move-up racers have cleared tech and the B Semi has just started. Extremely clean racing compared to the Consis. Semis are still utilizing the two on, two off format.

8) John Weaver - 2, 4.188 in red

Salzman, Scharf, Name, and Watson will advice to the final Main.

The final Main will utilize three minute heats and will begin after the racers have a bit of practice and the cars are re-teched. From all considerations, the Can-Am final Main should be a heck of a Retro race!
