Hello,

Got a chance to buy big Buck Track Scorpion. About 13' long. All wired. Needs power source and four controls. I have a power box that will work. What is a good offer price? If I cannot strike a deal I may buy a couple super int. AFC track and do my own set up.

Thanks.
Timothy Smith

If you're serious about racing top end HO cars, this is the way to go. Sectional track can be a nightmare to maintain, as each track section connection can lose power if you get any slight bit of corrosion.

What would be a good price to offer?

I haven't had a lot of involvement with HO racing lately, but depending on condition, maybe somewhere around $1,000-1,200? Hopefully someone with more knowledge on current routed tracks can weigh in on this.

It depends on the condition of the track, or more importantly the rails.

How do you evaluate the rails? Thanks

Make sure that they are at a consistent height, and secured in place. I was going to buy a Scorpion at one time, but the rails were bad. The cost and time to replace the rails exceeded the value of the track. I would recommend taking someone that has knowledge with these types of tracks to take a look at it with you.

Thanks. I saw a YouTube video it just now. There is a device with a suction cup that they used to measure rail height.

You can also use a depth micrometer, if you have access to one.
