It has been mentioned on Slotblog that a new slot car track is being put in Avon Park, FL. Supposedly, its a 220 ft Engleman. Is there more info on this track? Ed Hoffman showed me a picture of the track last Saturday.

No, I don't think so. The pic I saw was from a different perspective, at least I think so. But it was a track just like that. We had two 220 ft tracks (an Engleman and an American) in NE Ohio when I grew up in the '60s racing slot cars. I loved those two tracks.

Just a shot in the dark. I was told the Black Track in this post -  http://slotblog.net/...4-tracks-in-ct/ was sold, destination uncertain.

I just wish that the owner gets on Slotblog and makes himself known to Florida slot car racers. I'd like to go there soon. It would be great if he would become part of GRRR retro racing and My Series.

Talked to my mom who lives in Sebring this morning and in the Highlands paper (highlandstoday.com) there is an article about the slot car track in Avon Park. They are on Facebook atFfastrax Slot Car Raceway. It says they opened in January.

Just thought you FL racers would like to know. Check it out. I know I will at Xmas time. Let us know how it is.

HERE is the Newspaper article on the track. Good publicity.

Cheers.

From the one picture, looks like the Engleman that was in Warner Robins. Pretty good track with good bite; the drivers panel actually in the correct place. I remember some major bondo work at the head of the straight and not being able to convince the owner to use contact cement on both the track and the braid.

Just thought you FL racers would like to know.

FWIW, Joe, this raceway has been listed in Slotblog's Raceway List since the end of May, so it shouldn't have been a surprise to anyone.

Meant to post that article in Slot Cars in the News since last Tuesday and have now done so.

Never forget that first place goes to the racer with the MOST laps, not the racer with the FASTEST lap

Cool. My bad didn't check the list. But we can't go if we don't know. Now we know. I know I will go next time I am FL.
