The 2016 SCRRA Summer Western Classic is just around the corner!!.....once again a Major race using the same schedule and format as the recent Parma Checkpoint Cup with 5 Retro races over a 3 day weekend, Friday July 22 through Sunday July 24.
On Friday, July 22, the first race of the day will be Anglewinder Coupes on the Flat track with tech starting at about 9:30 AM. The next race will be F1 also on the Flat track with tech beginning about an hour after the completion of the Coupe race. The final Friday race will be Retro Pro on the King track with tech at about 6 PM. BPR will open their doors at about 8 AM on Friday.
Saturday, the 23rd will feature the premier event of the weekend, Can Am on the King track with tech at 9:30 AM and BPR opening at 7:30 AM. Sunday, the 24th will bring the final race of the weekend and it will be F1 also on the King track with tech beginning a little later at 10 AM with BPR opening at 8 AM. All the usual SCRRA Retro rules will be strictly enforced.
The only minor racing change will be in regards to qualifying and move ups from the B Main and this will only effect the Can Am and F1 races on the King track. The top 5 (FIVE) qualifiers will automatically make the A Main with 3 (THREE) move ups this time from the B Main. So, simply, all 3 podium racers from the B advance to the Final A Main. 2 (TWO) racers as usual will advance from the C to the B Main.
The Flat track races will be as normal and will advance 2 from the B to the A and the number of move ups in the lower races will be determined by the number of entrants.
The exact Retro Pro racing format will be determined shortly as several suggestions have been made to allow a few changes which all seem reasonable.........more information on this ASAP.
Also, at this race it will NOT be necessary to bring the cars to the tech table with the bodies off. The SCRRA will continue to check for the light bodies and will do a thorough visual motor inspection but everything can be accomplished without the extra added agro of body removal. If we see something that requires a further look then we may remove the body for closer inspection.
And, lastly, several people have recently asked about the Nascar Enduro we had last year in October at the Boola Bash and if we have plans to run it this year and the answer is an unequivocal.....YES!! We had 10 teams and over 40 racers last year so start making plans for this years event!....... more details to follow shortly!
