We started building some 1960s sports cars with Richard Hofer in the Dallas, TX area. We are using primarily the Tamiya bodies reissued a few years ago. There is also a Fujimi GT40, Fujimi Ferrari 330 P4, a Monogram Chaparral 2D. and a Tamiya? Chaparral 2J. We use the H plate type chassis from Scholer, Scaleauto, and Slotting Plus.

What motors are you using? Who makes the brass pan chassis?

I like what you guys are doing!

Hi Glenn,

We are using the JK 25,000 RPM motors on these cars. The cars run similar lap times to the regular 1/24 Scaleauto cars.

The brass chassis is made by Scholer. The only place I know of that still has some of those chassis is Grid Scale Racing in Canada.

Someone oughta schedule a race for these cars. Maybe an enduro at your track in Tyler, Chris(hint, hint)!  LOL

Very Cool. We are also racing endurance machines at Electron Raceway here in Oregon. We are also running a mix of H plate chassis. However we are running these machines with Deathstar or ProSlot 16D power and adding custom front and side pans to improve handling. Check out the link for CanAm cars http://slotblog.net/...raceway-can-am/ and for endurance machines (we call them Gran Sport class) http://slotblog.net/...way-gran-sport/

For a frame of reference on speed a bone stock Scaleauto (no pans with a stock motor) turns about 5.75 seconds per lap. The Can Am/Gran Sport cars are running a bit less than 5 seconds. The 917 has run 4.75

We have found that the best car in these classes is the Porsche 917. It is very wide front an rear and very low.

We don't have to wait. We have air conditioning.

WHAAT?! Tyler has "air conditioning" now?!  LOL

I'm up for any date then(obviously, it's been too long since I've been to Tyler).
