Who would be interested in a 24-hour Retro enduro? I would have to convince Doug at PJ, which i think i could.  :)

I Spoke with Pat Skeggs tonight about it and I think this would be really fun. What do you all think?

Us old guys would need nap breaks every eight hours LOL.

Might I suggest a two or three hour "Iron Man" enduro? No teams needed. (Not as easy as it sounds LOL.)

Did that when I was 15 years old with 1/32 cars. Our four-man team made the Guinness book of world records by winning that race. It didn't last long as someone else broke our record shortly after.

I did it then and I could do it now... I think!

Make it interesting and run 4.5 inch stock cars!!!

How about a 12-hour enduro. 6 hours on the King and 6 hours on the Hillclimb? Run a spec tire and one gear ratio for both tracks. You could effectively have 16 race teams instead of eight and run both races at the same time.

Hi Chubby,

I did one 24-hour enduro once. In fact it was in Ronkonkoma. A long, long time ago.

The biggest challenge  will be in finding eight 24-man teams.

We did it about 10 years ago.

Zero fun.

Maybe it would of been better with more consistent motors.

If you do it, just make sure you have enough guys that are fully committed to abuse their bodies.

The abuse of the body is why said guys can't race. It caught up to them! LOL.

Four-hour enduro: 15 minutes per lane. Once around the King and then on to the second or flat track. Do it again. Five minute break between heats to rest.

Eight-hour enduro: Either two-man teams, each driving for half of the heats or go around the tracks a second time.

Did it the '60s as a kid with all spec K&B cars. It was a tough haul and we were kids then. The nighttime was fun though. Glad when it was over.

I ran a 24-hour in 1964 with triple wind motors and piano wire drop arm cars!  It was fun – and we won – but I couldn't do it today!! We have run several 3-4 hour enduros at BPR and they've been well received and a lot of fun!! :)

Did it with a three-man team... three times across the driver's panel. With Womps. Seriously. We won by more than a heat's worth of laps. The track was five minutes from homes of the team members... plenty of sleep.

Did a 24 hour race with 1/32 cars in 2013.  Said I would never do it again.  A week after the race I wanted to do it again.  A six person team would make it easier.

What a bunch of wimps. :laugh2:

I was one of Eric's teammates in that 24 hour race. Same thing with me, I said I'd never do it again and a week later I was planning for next year. We were in the Michigan 24 using 1/32 scale cars. Our problem was that first year we didn't know what to expect and had no sleep schedule.

The last three years we had 6 teams running on 5 lanes so every sixth lane you set out so it took thirty hours to run a twenty-four hour race because each team got 24 hours on the track. It's best to have a six man team, keep a motel room for the entire race so you can go back there and get some sleep and have a sleep schedule where each driver gets at least 6 hours in a row off to get some sleep. If you do it that way it's a blast. It's my favorite race.

The Michigan 24 is at Mike Stott's house in his basement. You pay one price and he has all the food and drinks right there for the entire race. If you are hungry just go out to his garage and get something to eat. It's a great set-up.

years ago, ralph griffin and myself teamed up to run a 6hr enduro on an American red track in Londonderry, nh. lane choice was determined randomly after a qualifying race. 8, 2 man teams. we ended up on red lane for 6 hrs. we will never have to practice on red lane again. further, red lane lap counter failed at some point during the race and they had to post an observer at the lap counter to count our laps. we had a great car, finished second, although the winning team never past us during the race.....
