If he discovers Splash Zone epoxy or Marine Tex, he'll be in the emergency room pronto.

Reminds me of the first time I used super glue. The tube must have been filled at sea level, because when I pierced the seal at the neck about half the contents sprayed out all over my blue jeans. I never removed a pair of pants faster, even with the prettiest girl.

Actually, the stuff was salvageable. since it is a solvent based product, rule number one is: have the solvent available to work with the compound. Then you can wet items with that before touching/contacting the product. Scrapers wetted with MEK will clean this up as will mixing some in the can with a wood stirrer soaked in the solvent. At least he was outside where fumes will dissipate. Oh yeah, one other item in this case - nitrile gloves.

When mounting something to wood, I first paint the wood, or any porous surface, with contact cement diluted 50:50 with MEK. It penetrates better and then (and this is not always necessary) when dried, recoat with full strength. The bond is impressive in strength and gives a little rubberiness to the result.

Good thing he's outside, might get overwhelmed by the fumes.  :roflmao:

Kind of looks like the nutty professor making that stuff in the movie. :unknw:

Looks like he is OK.  :)

Contact cement fumes are highly flammable.

My dad used to say that there were two kinds of Formica® installers: "Those that have had a fire and those who are gonna have one."

I was one of the first kind. :yes3:

The only minor thing is: why did this guy think combining two cans of contact cement was something that needed to be filmed?

IOW, was it staged?
