Alright, I got clearance from the wife to go racing on the last weekend of my vacation at Fast Tracks. I am looking to build a stock car for the race. Any suggestions on where to start as a kit and what rails to use? Also, what body is suggested?

Thanks, guys, for all the help in advance.

The go-to body these days seems to be the VFC Charger (not Daytona), although some like the Parma Cyclone. Either one is a good choice.

Simplest build would be one of the R-Geo kits. Not too hard to build one from scratch either; take a look at some of the chassis Mike Katz has built... simple but effective.

Three things to remember:

Weight is your friend on these cars.

Guide lead is 0.750" maximum.

Clearance is .050" front and rear.

Rick from RGEO Samurii kit is very effective, a solid machine.

As JJ suggested, the R-Geo kit will deliver a very good result. If you are interested, here is a step by step tutorial on one method of building that kit.

As an alternative, this build uses a new chassis plate from R-Geo that also delivered excellent results so far.

Thanks John. I now have a good starting point. I think I am headed toward the RGeo chassis for my build. Wish me luck, I will need it.

Search the retro east reports and you can see pictures and descriptions of the top 3 cars. Gearing is usually 9/28 for can am and 8/28 for stockcar.

A motor is only as fast as the chassis it's in.
