Interstate Home Slot Racers is a club founded in 1994 that races 1/32 scale cars on home tracks in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, and West Virginia.

 

While the competition is close, the emphasis is always on fun, comradery, and love of the hobby. Folks who take grown men playing with toy cars too seriously usually come and go quickly, yet we have a solid core of long time members and each season new guys join the group. Typical race attracts 12+ guys.

 

Because we are so spread out, we don't do weekly races. Rather, our seasons start in the Fall and run until early spring, with day-long race events taking place every other weekend.

 

We're working on the schedule for the 2016/2017 season now. Please email me for the new season's rules and to get the schedule when it's ready. Don't have class eligible cars? Loaners are always on hand.

Todd, good to see you guys are still racing. How goes it with the Scalex 1/24 track?

Matt our track is MDF, weatherproofing sprayed both sides; the racing surface is painted with six coats of grey color boat deck paint.

Our new season will be starting in a month or so. I think it's our 22nd year, more or less.

 

I've got a ton of the 1/24 scale 3 lane Scalextric track in boxes, waiting for a bigger home in which to set it up!

Todd I'm anxious to see what you do with the Scalex track. I always figured that track was an ideal size for a home track. Big enough to have room for big cars but not like a big commercial track in your basement. A really pretty nice facimile of a real race car on a home/club track does seem more at home than on a commercial track with no scenery.

IHSR will have a large, 3 lane 1/24 scale Scalextric layout up and running at the September 18 slot car show in White Marsh, MD.

 

Stop by and run some laps on the rarest of all vintage slot car track!

There are conflicting dates for the White Marsh, MD slot car show on various internet sites. It is on SEPTEMBER 25, not Sept 18.

Two race dates set, per the rules in another thread:

 

Saturday, October 22. York, Pa. 4 lane routed mdf track.

Saturday, November 19, Abingdon, MD. 3 lane routed mdf track.

 

Typical race day: Home owner opens his home around 8 am, although no need to be there that early. Racing starts around 10 am. We run a class or two (depending on # of racers), break for pizza lunch, then run the last two races and possibly an IROC race. Things finish up around 3 pm more or less so folks with longer drives can be on the road.

 

It's ok if you don't have class legal cars, there are always loaner cars and controllers!

Saturday, November 12: Will have my three lane Scalextric track set up at the Great Lehigh Valley Slot Car Show in Allentown, Pa.

 

Saturday & Sunday, December 3 & 4. I'll have my three lane Scalex track setup at the Greenberg Train and Toy Show at the MD. State Fairgrounds in Timonium, MD.
