My Woodshop teacher in junior high school told us, pound for pound, wood is stronger than metal.

 

Hope nobody misunderstands the address of this website - especially the long arm of the law :laugh2:

A professional fishing business slang term, "dope", means insider fishing info. There is "good dope" and "straight dope" (truth) and "bad dope" (untruth).

Steel vessels of all sizes are routinely discarded after a couple decades of service, whereas a wood boat, if properly cared for, will last centuries.

Some wood is better than others. That's why some slotcar chassis are made from popsicle sticks (white birch) rather than balsa or pine. A few years ago, Steve Okeefe even made a Grp. 12 wing car with a popsicle stick chassis.

Totally off topic, Pablo but the Straightdope.com site is one I visit very often. I trust the information they cover more than most mainstream media outlets!
