I found a model 99 Robins magnetic eraser. Designed to bulk erase magnetic tapes. Nixon should have had one.

 

Here is what one looks like.

 

 

 

Inside it is just a coil around an armature. Tried to demagnetize a pair of FK poly-neos. No apparent results. It did throw them across the room though.

 

Any ideas on how to re-purpose this into a "Magnet-Blaster"? Turbo or otherwise.

His " Dual Rectifier " system will remain a mystery as well as a total crock of bull crap.

Designed to "erase" magnetic tape, he's smokin' sumthin' if he thinks there'll be a stampede to get this thing.  Just waving a degausser wand anywhere too near the tape works well...even by accident.  There, I saved you guys a bunch of dinero...you're welcome!

The one I have came out of " Dead Man's Dumpster ". Got some cool vintage Westinghouse ammeters also.

 

Thinking this can be converted to a pocket type zapper. Can someone open one up and post a pic?

For the uninformed: Place reel of tape on the spindle (pin on left) and energize for a few seconds. Rotate tape while power is ON. Tape content will be neutralized.  Can also work with cassettes and eight-tracks as well as video tapes and credit card stripes.

 

Since the inside is only one magnetic pole, it can only create polarity in THAT field direction. Real zappers have magnetic coils for BOTH North & South.

 

Turn it into a mag blaster: take the guts out and insert a magblaster in the case. Cut hole in top for motor insertion.
