Have they stopped balancing the Hawk Retro arms?

The newest ones I have don't have any balance marks. They come from at least two batches with different can markings.

In the early batches I always had the best performance out of the ones that did not have the balancing marks

Seems like if you look at 10 motors in the package every one has a different type of balancing or none at all! :)

No consistency in those motors. I know people like 'em; I don't. TSR fits my needs fine.

If the Retro Hawk was made in the USA it would coast $69.95.

I've been racing in the FL flexi series since 1999 when I started back racing. Just imagine the rules changes I've seen!

Another thing is obvious. The brushes are very soft now. Maybe even softer than the Hawk 7 brushes. In previous years, in order to break in the motor for the handout motor endurance races here in Florida, most of us ran the motor in water at 3.5V for 90 seconds. Now, 20 seconds may be too long.

Just like raceways are run by slave labor.

There might be one assembly line that DOES assemble an arm that is naturally balanced.
