Our typical light turn-out for Can-Am+.

Matt Bruce dominates, with Noose and Boogie rounding out the podium.

What is it that is making for the light turn-out for this class?

Not just at this event - but appears low turn-out, at least from what I have read, whenever it is run. Personally, I like the class.

Some guys just are not fans of flat tracks because they require a fair amount of practice time.

Mike Swiss:

The lack of interest in flat tracks for Retro racing has always amazed me. To me a flat track is about as "retro" as you can get. I wish we ran more races on them. A variety of tracks is what slot racing is all about in my mind.

FWIW, I somehow thought the question was in reference to Can-Am on the Flat, which had a pretty typical, but decent, 14 entries.
