To respond to Bill, Scott was offered this car by the former owner at a time when the economy was a bit of a disaster and cash was not available to buy expensive slot cars. So he declined.
Now he is looking at it of course, but the price is simply too high.
The car was never on display at the LASCM, but the pictures shown with a LASCM copyright were taken many years ago, explaining that.
This car is only one of several pre-production Galaxies, in fact besides the original car featuring a Toronado body, there were several more in my possession. One with a Pontiac GTO body was sold to a collector in Spain, and the LASCM now owns two more, using actual production parts but in an unfinished state (body mold not detailed yet, brightwork unplated, etc. (including one fitted with a GE motor that was eventually rejected).
It would be nice to get this one back, but financial considerations have to be taken and at this time, with the large LASCM slot cars and static kits museum room in its final configuration (all that's missing are the special LED-lit shelves and glass enclosures, now in the making), large purchases have to be set aside.
