Holy Smokes! :shok:

A video with music for a slot car chassis. This must be the 21st century. Heck of a job :good:

Not even a pretense of front wheels so nothing is sticking up to get hit and bend the pan.

I didn't even notice.

I haven't seen one in person.

With the ISRA Worlds in town, Tim has been showing it around, but when he stopped by me last Friday night, I was busy "Sanoing".

The center void looks like a F-86 Sabre Jet. So how about JK F-86 or JK Jet.  The JK frames have such confusing names something simple and unique would be best.

This is a turning point in Slots. Sort of like when Wing cars lost their fronts and the chassis had perimeter frames with no place for fronts. Same for Eurosport cars. This is a purpose built race chassis for ISRA and similar rules.

" Fronts?.....We ain't got no fronts... "

When I did the first perimeter cars, and other's followed, the fronts didn't really change from what they were on conventional cars.

IOW, I used the same type,(plastic rims with a rubber O-ring) but just moved them inboard, inside the rails.

It was years before they got to the point they are.

Wing cars are like "Hollywood women"---totally FALSE FRONTS!!! Front wheels on wing cars are STUPID---they can't be seen and don't work.  Might as well go with sticker fronts as they at least LOOK like they are there! Same with Flexi's--don't work, don't need  them.  Simple is better.  :)

This chassis' no nonsense approach to present day technology is to be commended. A bold move. You want fronts....race Retro,Hard Bodies,Scale, or Vintage.

If ISRA allows use of it's name, the new chassis should be named: JK ISRA-2 (two piece). You guys know a three piece is coming down the pike.

I meant  " Real " Scale. Like Hardbody cars with those screw together chassis. They run scale (almost) size tires. 4 of them. Maybe I should use the term " True Scale "?

This has been the norm since people found that the ears on the front of the chassis could be used as skids. They would bend the front axle so the fronts would not touch. They became useless appendages that just caused more problems. I haven't used fronts on any Flexi racing where the rules don't require them. Had them for one race at Buzz-A-Rama. Because that's what Buzzy put in the rules. There was also a .063" clearance. He's as Old School as they come.

So this chassis did away with the pretense of the fronts as a functioning  component. Sticker fronts are the norm now in many classes of Flexi racing. NBD. That's evolution.

When JK releases a new chassis like this do they typically come out with enough to fill the distribution channel? I'm just wondering if these will be realistically available or if they will dribble them out over time as interest picks up.

They can only ship what the distributors order.

I haven't heard anything that would indicate any supply issues.

I have one I'll be testing tonight.

I'll tell you what. Tim has really found a terrific craftsman to build his RTR cars. I'm really impressed with the roller he handed me. Bearings are immaculately soldered in. Perfect gear mesh. Perfect side play.

Guide nut was a little tight. LOL.

I can't see why it couldn't be a three-piece??

I ran it.

I thought it (Cheetah A) was great, but any data I could provide would really be value, only to my local racers.

I tried to do an A-B with an X25,with all the same componennts, but the tires that were about perfect on the Cheetah A, were way too sticky on the heavier X25, so hopes of anything you could call scientific, were dashed..

As far as a 3 pc,, maybe it could be done, but it looks like with any kind of up-down movement, it would be a pan dragger.

Maybe not.

It doesn't matter enough to me to spend anymore time arguing the logistics.

Thanks Mike

So it was different (lighter) but not necessarily faster?

Was this on your King or Flat track?

Oh, and what motor did you test with??

Much faster times, especially on the flat track, but the tires were way wrong for the X25.

Was this on your King or Flat track?

Both.

A noisy Hawk 6.

I understand these are shipping to wholesalers next week so we should see them start to become available soon. I notice PCH is taking pre-orders.

I'm interested in hearing feedback from those who get them first and have a chance to power them up and run them on a track, flat or banked. Feedback is feedback.

Mike,

Put my name on one to pick up at or after the next local ISRA race.

Did the replacement pins for the Mossetti kits ever get ordered?

Previous B Production hot lap best time, IIRC, was 4.17, on the Fiedler Flat.

I just turned a couple 4.00s with Rob Voska's new Cheetah A car.

He assured the rest of the guys here he got it last night and built it out of the bag, no flattening, no jigging.

Great to hear, and thanks for the update. I can't wait to run mine in A Production trim.

Finally had a chance to have some track time with this new chassis on our flat track
Was very flat, got going quickly with just some minor tweaks to flatten but nothing major required.
Soldered easy and as yet no staining or rust from the flux
Handling - Very lively compared to the (already lively) X25, with a slight tendency to pop the nose out on longer sweeping flat corners, I guess that's the result of light weight and torquey motor, and a track with heaps of grip.
Some lead on the back of the pans helped
Will be a quick car with some more development I am sure. A lot of setup testing to happen yet :-).
