The engineer/basement machinist that helped out, Geary Gaspord, with this project has "re-retired", and production has started up again.

Available in both AC (no power supply needed) and DC (very torquey, but motor draws 7-8 amps)

Now comes standard with a very nice calibration system.

$380 plus shipping.

For those not familiar with the unit, along with the larger diameter, standard size, sanding drums, the beauty of it is the ease of adjustment.

Geary uses two identical size drums to set the initial adjustment.

If any fine tuning is needed, to get the left and right sides identical, it's simple. Just loosen the two bolts holding the carriage in place.

That carriage pivots on the left.

On the right side of the unit, with your tire wrench, you turn the angled set screw in or out, until the unit is perfectly parallel to the rotating drums.

The original ad, with a lot of useful info, can be found HERE.

I got mine a couple days ago and love it! Only took about half an hour to adjust.

A motor is only as fast as the chassis it's in.

Getting it to .001" or 002" difference is usually pretty quick.

Getting it dead-on takes a little touch and patience.

I got my AC powered truer yesterday and I have to say it is one nice piece of equipment. Super nice machining and assembly.
Thanks to Mike and Geary for making another job easier!

Some new info.

The below that just came in, and are all spoken for, but racers will notice there are 2 different types.

Geary was able to find more of the A/C motors, so he will be offering them either way, A/C or D/C, along with offering the A/C motor, as a replacement to anyone who has bought the unit.

IMO, the DC unit, with the motor he is using, has more torque than the A/C unit, but draws about 8 amps while grinding.

I would probably suggest, if one has a minimal power supply, to stick with the A/C unit.

There is also a way to "turbocharge" the A/C unit.

I'll explain that in another thread.

Racers will also notice some 3D blocks on the unit in the lower right hand corner.

Inspired by my new 3D printed, body pinning blocks, I came up with the idea for a (double) tire narrowing attachment.

I will post separately on that , also.

The list for the next batch is filling up.

If interested, contact me, with which type you want.

Both units are $325 retail.

Ok, went back and read all the older posts on the "2 true" ! Found the answer to my big question of 1/8' axles next one would be anyway to adapt it to handle the old threaded 1/8" axles ?

I just tried it with a threaded axle off of an old Dynamic Dyna-flex chassis, euipped car, I bought awhile back.

I did the switch over, in literally about 10 seconds, from the Koford 1/8 axle that was in my personal 2 True.

The threaded axle measured about .123", compared to .124", for the Koford 1/8", so you can feel a minuscule amount of play.

We've had enough demand for calibration for this unit, that Geary and his machinist friend, have come up with a nice system.

It is standard equipment, and the truers are now $380.

Every batch of these has always quickly sold out, so I suggest, if interested, you PM me, to get your name in the que.

You'll have a letter as a reference, and a 1-5, number suffix.

20170323_193109-1.jpg

If you true in a fairly large diameter range, you'll add a number prefix, corresponding to these height lines (which are much easier to spot in person)

Giving up cigar smoking a couple months ought to do it. :laugh2:

P.S. When I was a kid, Carl Adams, the owner & driver of the only taxi in town smoked smelly cigars. I hated riding in his car, but it was slightly better than walking the 3 1/2 miles home.

Geary recently completed a new batch of these.

I just sent out, all I had, to Mid-America Raceway and Pacific Slot Car Raceway, who had preordered them.

All are A/C units.

Any raceways, interested in carrying these, should contact me, to get on the list, for the next batch.

It would need to be sent in, direct to Geary for a redo, as the part the calibration knob is on, is different then the one on your older model.

Dale Ryan / Triggerman, who is famous for real nice Hudy conversions, also offers a calibration set-up, now, for the 2 True.

I know one guy who has one from Dale (John Miller-new owner of Proslot), and he says it's real nice.

The Dale Ryan conversion might be cheaper, as I'm 99% sure, it retains the original support piece.
