Interesting eBay offer:

TSR Falcon-7 w/ aftermarket Turbo-Blast Plus "Dictator" High Performance Service

Seems to defeat the purpose of sealed-motor to me. What is your opinion of this "service"?

The infamous Ken-O Racing.

I think most feel it is deceptive advertising and I don't recall any great number of buyers posting anywhere that his claims are valid.

Turbo-Blast? :sarcastic_hand: :laugh2:

KEN- H !  Oh what a crock of crap !

NO....It is all a bunch of Bull-$#!t .  Many well respected experts have looked into zapping poly-neo magnets. The consensus was it only magnetizes the can material. Double...triple zapping, it all adds up to absolutely NOTHING ! And he claims to do all this hocus pocus with a pocket style zapper to boot.

Don't buy ANYTHING from him. He is not a raceway. He does not support the sport or the hobby. And by offering other purpose built cheater motors he is eroding the faith racers hold in sealed motor classes. He's a pariah and should be shunned by the entire slot car community.

If you have to buy online, buy from a source that is a raceway. Support the Sport, not some con man bullcrap artist.

Seems it is also illegal:

"1) All motors must be remain unmodified and as produced by the manufacturer"

(IRRA Rules)

Zapping, multiple zapping, purposely demagnetizing, or waving a magic wand, over set-ups isn't anything we can legislate against.

This particular motor would actually be legal in IRRA® racing as well as all other racing as it has not been opened up or altered. He does offer another Turbo-Basted, Dirty Bird, Crock-O-Crap that gets opened up and reworked. That one is a cheater motor for sure.

Save your money. Just break them in carefully and you will get satisfactory results. Stress relieving the arm bushings is a simple operation and easy to perform. Some call it "knock balancing."

I'm not into anything but informal racing, I just found the eBay listing rather interesting. It sounds like the process consists of a normal break-in, questionable magnet zapping, and uncalibrated hammer application.

Hardly worth $7 plus shipping even if you do view it as legal, which I do not.

Mike,

Not agitated. Rather amused. He can't even spell robbing or intermittent. And he still insists these FK motors with double shafts can be endbell mounted. He states the packaging has been perfected. That must be the red pen. He is such a tool.

Here is some funny stuff:

Here at last!!!!  The Ken O Racing Assassin "ROYAL BIRD", a Turbo Blast Plus JK Hawk HR RETRO motor.  We mastered the magnet zapping and got the packaging together and now it is available for racers headed for the podium.

The latest entry from the JK motor racing stable, performance tuned and zapped by Ken "O" Racing and dubbed the "ROYAL BIRD".  It is the same size as the Standard Hawk-7 except the armature shaft extends out of each end of the motor affording bi-directional rotation from one single motor by simply installing the pinion on either end. The same Turbo Blast system of Slick-7 Glidex-II lube, armature to bushing pressure relief, triple magnet zapping and smooth slow break in is done to this motor to bring up the fighting side to this ROYAL BIRD. Made to not only compete on the commercial track but to dominate. It is also sealed and considered disposable also like other 130 mini-can motors so they don't last forever. Right now it seems to be the hottest seller going, so now is the time to get yours. We have  developed our Turbo Blasting system for this motor which so far has been metering higher magnetic readings before and after zapping.  It wakes it up and polishes it's butt kicking boots. Some racing nuts with a true need for speed will be installing these into their 1/32 scale home track style cars.  Yeowee! SO WHERE EVER YOU ARE COMPETING, SHOW THE COMPETITION THE "ROYAL BIRD!

 " Turbo Blast "...... :stinker:

Several other listings by the same seller, including this description:

"Though it appears to be stock, we discourage the attempted use in stock in-class racing. The appearance shouldn't give you away but the speed will especially when others are legal. But if you do try, we will not judge you."

Just, wow.  What a disgrace to the sport.

Somewhere he came to that good vs evil fork in the road and it's obvious which path he took.

Since he doesn't have a reverse gear or steering wheel, he figures he might as well go full steam ahead.

IMO, he camps it up in his text to try to show he doesn't care he's a pariah in slot cars.

Hi,

I have a question:

Can you explain the procedure about this: "Stress relieving the arm bushings or knock balancing."

Thanks.

This is lightly tapping the arm or can to line up the bushings better. I use the plastic handle of a Wiha allen wrench. While the motor is running on the power supply at 3-4 volts I'll lightly tap the can. Hold motor by the power leads. Most times you will hear an increase in RPM.

Now everyone can do their own "Turbo-Blasting."   :laugh2:

- Don't have a Wiha, can you or Ken recommend an alternative ? I have an Aven and a Radio Shack.

- How hard do I need to whack it?

- Can I whack it installed in the chassis or do I need to remove it first?

- Will this work for vintage motors also?

- Does the yellow-colored pixie comm break in dust really work better than the blue?

Has to be a Wiha. It's the only one that works. Try unpleasant break in dust Otis good for 500 RPM.

If we choose not to show our competition "the bird," would it be okay instead to give this distributor the bird? I'm quite good at that, actually.  :D

You have to use a Wiha made in W Germany. You know those Germans always make good stuff.
