As has been previously announced, the 2017 Parma Checkpoint Cup will be a couple weeks later than usual. By popular demand the premier event of the SCRRA Retro Racing calender will be held on the weekend of January 27- 29 and will again feature the same racing schedule as last year.

On Friday, January 27, the first race of the weekend will be Retro Anglewinder Coupe on the Flat track with tech inspection beginning at 9:30 AM. F1 will follow also on the Flat track with tech approximately 1 hour after the conclusion of the Coupe race. The last race of the day will be Retro Pro on the King track with tech inspection beginning at about 6 PM.

Saturday, January 28 will feature Can Am as the only race of the day and a little change will be in order here with a JK Hawk Retro 7R7R handout motor race. Each racer will be allowed to purchase a maximum of (3) motors, which will be marked and numbered and racers MUST run the motor or motors they were assigned to when purchased at sign up. The track will be open at 7 AM and tech inspection will be set back a bit to about 10 AM to accomodate motor break in. This being a major SCRRA event, bodies will also be checked for thickness and weight and all bodies must weigh at least 5.5 grams and this includes interior. Bodies found to be too light will be ballasted as necessary.

The final race of this years Parma Checkpoint Cup will be Sunday, January 29, and will be F1 on the King track and it will also be the only race of the day. Tech inspection will begin at 10 AM.  Can Am will be the ONLY race of the weekend using the handout Hawk motor format and all other races will use the normal SCRRA rules concerning motors.

We wish to thank all the sponsors, Parma, JK Products, Alpha, Outisight, DR Products, Samson Classics, Electric Dreams, Retro Tokyo, Racemasters, Mission Trail Insurance, V-Tech, Mill Conroy, Tim Wilkins and Warmack Racing Products!  A special thanks to Jairus Watson, Nesta Szabo and Kathy Mitome for all their work and efforts putting together the fantasic new SCRRA T shirt and the Checkpoint race poster!  Thanks everyone!!

The last SCRRA monthly race before the Checkpoint will be in a couple of weeks on Saturday, January 14.  Can Am and Retro Anglewinder Coupes will run together first on the Flat track followed by a Can Am race on the King track. The SCRRA hopes everyone had a wonderful Christmas and wishes all a very Happy and safe New Years!! :victory:

And now your local weather report:  Despite all the recent rains and still more to come, the weather outlook for the CheckPoint Cup looks good with no rains expected.  In fact, after early next week, no rains expected until at least the first week of February.

Have a safe trip everyone!

Well, that is good to hear. Raining like heck here as I type. A little football today, working on the F-1 and coupe for Fri. A couple of beers; it's all good. See you fellas on Fri. Ta-ta.
