Since I didn't find a specific place for a new member to say hello, I figured I would just put it here since vintage production 1/24 cars is really the only thing that interests me. Thought I would just use my old eBay name as some of you may remember me being pretty active buying and selling 10-18 years ago.

I was your typical track rat in the '60s and basically lived at the local track till it closed sometime in '67-68. I've been collecting vintage Cox cars since the early '90s when I bought a MIB Cox Cheetah RTR from Philippe. Want to say hello to Philippe who is probably reading this saying, "Oh no, not that guy that used to drive me nuts with all faxed in orders and questions."

Anyway, I got out of slot cars and back into the 1:1 scale cars about 10 years ago when I bought another Boss 302 Mustang like I had 45 years ago. Still have the Boss and a couple other Mustangs but interest in slots has come back and bought my first car in over 10 years recently, a very nice Cox 2D off eBay. I was never really into the kits and prefered the ones that someone did a nice job of building then sat them on a shelf never to be used again and my new 2D fits that description. Took me over two years to finally win an auction but very happy with the car.

Knowing there are a lot of 2D fans out there I thought I would post the following pic for your viewing pleasure. Being a Ford guy the GT40 will always be my favorite race car but the 2D is a close second.

Welcome to Slotblog, Darrell!

Since you're an apparent Chaparral 2D fan (and who isn't?), check out this THREAD, and salivate.

We all need to believe in something. I believe I'll have another beer.

Thanks to all for kind the welcome.

Mike, I am from Southern Illinois near Mt. Vernon, about 225 miles south of Chicago, right down I-57.

Thanks for the link to the 2D thread. I only wish I had that kind of talent...

Here is another pic with something for everybody.  I wish it was a head-on shot.

Welcome to slotblog, Darrell.

Not a lot happens here, but when it does, it's worth watching and quality stuff.

You clearly aren't sitting in my chair, J! LOL...

Never forget that first place goes to the racer with the MOST laps, not the racer with the FASTEST lap

But you are appreciated, my friend.

Welcome, Darrell.

You will find in time that you will associate with a bunch of extremely knowledgeable and extremely talented individuals.

I come here as a newbie, ask quite level-entry questions, and always get respectful replies, suggestions, and answers.

I feel confident that you will enjoy your time here and have an abundance of opportunities to learn from a great group of enthusiasts.

I am from the SW Chicago suburbs. I have relatives in Mt. Vernon. I currently have relatives living in Johnston City and Stiritz (between JC and West Frankfort).

My dad was from Johnston City and my Mom from Westville (south of Champaign/Urbana).

I learned how to drive in a cemetery east of Johnston City and spent many a summer down there...

Small world...

Hadn't logged in lately but thanks again to all for the warm welcome. I wish all the forums I visit were this friendly.

Geardriven, definitely a small world. My wife works in the land department of a coal mine east of Johnson City.

I am curious to know who your relatives are in Mt. Vernon. I may know them. My son went to U of I at Champaign.

Thanks,
