This Dynamic Lola T70 body, painted by Joe Neumeister for the 1968 NY Arco race as a prize, was found in the basement of Bob Emott's house in Florham, NJ,  just hours before the wrecking ball demolished it. Bob likely won that body.

Unfortunately and over the years, it sat covered with something heavy and besides a couple of cracks, was pretty much looking as having been run over by a steamroller by the time it got to the LASCM.

What to do, what to do?

DSCN2976.JPG

Well, to save it, the best way is to... reform it! Fortunately I had an untrimmed Electric Dreams identical body made from an original mold, complete with a stiff base allowing it to remain stiff.

DSCN2978.JPG

So the old Noose body was simply wrapped around the new one, and can be displayed at the museum as is, even possibly inside a Lucite box.

Now we await for Noose to tell us the story behind this survivor... :)

I don't remember. LOL.

Looks cool considering Noose was like six when he painted it. LOL.

Yes, I can't remember that much of what i was doing when I was six myself...  :laugh2:

Anyway, is this the oldest known survivor painted by our in-house artist? I had just retrieved another from the collection for Joe, sent to Bob Rule in hope of getting a massive order.

Not sure if it worked, but Bob did keep it and did not sit on it!  :D

It's a copy of a Russkit Elfin made by Mini Wheels...

Looks like Emott won the "Sportsmanship Award" that day, and in fact, likely every day he was inside a raceway!  :)

OT Philippe, does ED still have that Lola body?  I didn't see it listed on their website.

Body is not a repop. It was original by russkit and mini wheels copied it way back then. I don't think anyone has repoped it

Dilworth has done an Elfin. I have painted several of them.

Mike is asking about the Lola body.

The Electric Dreams/Dynamic Lola T70 appears to be out of stock at this time. This is why it would not show on the Electric Dreams online catalogue. The one I used in my pictures is one of two samples I keep on file.

The Elfin is a cool body, we have this one at the LASCM, a genuine Russkit body, that eventually will be affixed to a replica chassis of the car that was underneath and was raced in 1969 at the Tottenham Open in London.

5-23-09-PDL-Museum-Elfin.jpg

model_cars_june69.jpg

Noose helped by painting the details on this beautiful replica. We also have the McLaren that is next to it on the magazine cover. It is a British made body.

None of the Mini Wheels bodies, copied from various other manufacturers, were replicated. Today the intact survivors are true rarities.

Oldies for sure. Airline emergency info placard from the seat back pocket for a diaplane. Very cool. MYCAAT.

Joe, t

The two bodies shown are from 1969 (Champion McLaren and Boss Mustang), so that '68 Lola T70 body you painted is the oldest survivor that has surfaced so far.

Tony, either Champion bought the mold and erased their names, or just backpoured one... in any case it is exactly the same body.

Charlie Waters and Dave also made a Porsche 908 and a Lola T160, and somehow Champion also has the exact same ones... so not sure of what happened there but I think that Bob Rule may have bought their molds.

Some of that info is lost for eternity because... Bob Rule does not remember and Carl Ford did not know, but did have the McLaren mold (not the others).

From what I do remember, Charlie sold the molds to Champion after his son lost interest in racing. The Champion Ferrari was was also a Bloom Waters body.

Barry never raced except one or two times after Nutley moved, and that was when bodies were still Waters.

There was a McLaren coupe Charlie made that looked like a spaceship which everyone used the day I broke the blue King track world record in Conn with a Russkit Mantis that has never surfaced.

What body is that, and how come it's not in Barry's colors?

No clue what it is. Some sort of Lola for sure. Must have had it and he needed a body. Thus no lettering.

That's a 1969 Dynamic Lola T163.  Not too many of these were made.

That makes sense. The McLaren Mk 6 coupe, I have seen before. It was a pretty wild looking thingie!

The Russkit Marcos Mantis body comes up here and there, rare but not impossible to find.

Too bad your car disappeared...
