Sunday, February 5, 10 AM at P1 Raceway, legendary chassis builder Tony P will be building a faux Duffy War Beaver Can-Am chassis for all to see.

Most of the tedious stuff will be already done for time-saving reasons such as having the wire cut, bent and, cleaned, and other chassis parts cleaned and ready for the build.

All assembly will be done in person in front of all who wants to attend.

Marcus will also have the track open for test and tune with a $5 pit pass.

Now that's something I'd want to see... and I can't even build a chassis!

Well worth the wait and download for people who can't make it or don't even race.

To see how the chassis god works is priceless.  :D

I got much of my chassis building knowledge from Tony.

Forty-five years ago I and others got a monthly opportunity to talk with Tony face-to-face at the C&C races during down periods. It's amazing what he shared and he was always receptive to answering questions. Ken Stevens, now living in Houston, was one of my friends who also benefitted from these bantering sessions with Tony. We didn't have the word minions in those days, but that's what they would have called us today...

Danny, be sure to get Gary's video when back from vacation  :clapping: ...

Ken Stevens is still building and still winning with his builds. Several others here in TX also use his builds.

Good guy. Wish he hadn't learned so well from Tony.

Still keep hoping for that time machine to go back to those days.

Never forget my first race at C&C, still LOL about it. I had a chassis I believe was from Richie Boltizar. Never been on a track that was glue before.

First time up for qualfying I heard Tony say to his buddies lets see what this guy's got. My right leg started to shake like crazy, tried to hide it by supporting it with the drivers panel. I didn't have much as Tony an his crew return to their pit area after I only did 2/3 laps.

My third race at C&C I had one of Tony's chassis. It was huge step in the right direction. At least my leg stopped shaking!

Larry, you became a very good driver on the C&C King. You also became quite a body painter.

I thought you were racing before C&C, Larry. Didn't you race at Berlin or Wolcott?

I remember the first good chassis I had was  a Tony P. I called Nutley and had them mail it to me.

I was just thinking that Tony could probably provide some good tips on the subject of wire bending, too. I'm not so sure it's merely a "tedious" task. I'd love to hear his thought about some of these lesser tasks in the building process, too.

Just a thought.

Bob,

Just some local and home track stuff. We had an American Hillclimb for a short period in Enfield. When Gil Aubin was writing for Miniature Auto Racing he'd stop by and he talk about C&C and the upcoming October fest race.

That was my introduction to the world of Pro racing. I had no clue at all!!!

I, too would like to see some of the preparation steps. Wouldn't need to see every bend, just how Tony does some of the preparation, and maybe fiddly stuff like bracket bracing.

This video would be worth a contribution to Slotblog for sure! Getting the popcorn ready now!

FWIW: It seems to me that the K&S wire we get today is different than what we had in the '70s. Takes more clean up, more acid to get good joints. Have they omitted some plating or something?

Other than a nickel per foot in the '70s, K&S wire use to be plated.
