Fellas,

The March edition on the C.A.R.S. Vintage Slot Car Club takes place on Thursday March 2, 2017 at 7:30 PM.  We'll be looking at some brass wire stuff that's been in my stash for decades and I'll hope to I.D. some of them and possibly get myself in gear to put them back on track.

Heard through the grapevine (how's that for old school communication ?) that there's a good bit of building going on, in various scales !  There's some notable hardbody work going on behind the scene as well, vintage style of course. More news on that at a later date. :victory: :victory: :victory:

I'm also planning a SWAP MEET in the very near future. If there's enough interest, we'll have one in March. Let me know what everyone thinks.

Fellas,

The C.A.R.S. club meeting theme last night at The RACE PLACE was brass/wire chassis cars. Rodney brought along a collection of racecars from his stable of yore and did not disappoint.

After some minor adjustments, the oldies were flying around once again. He also brought along his "motor box" full of goodies waiting for their turn to see action again.

Speaking of flying, Steve "Canyon" had his hard bodied cars out and ran a couple of the tracks, both the upstairs track and the newer LARGE track downstairs saw his creations turning some quick laps. I always forget to mention that he powers his car with GP 12 motor !

Steve brought along his friend, sorry I didn't get your name, who happened to have one of the 1/24 MODIFIEDS that run at The RACE PLACE with him.

He too was running some hot laps on both tracks.

Mikey was testing a new/old 1/32 car that seem to run pretty well right out of the box even though it was experience some teething problems. No pics just yet though.

Finally, my tire reclamation project did show some results. I managed to soften up some older foam and fresh rubber tires with various concoctions but not enough to get the cars which I put them on "hooked up". I'll hope to continue to tinker with this experiment until I get some good results, I'll be giving an occasional update on the process.

Here's some pics from last night with Rodney's "wing cars" and chassis of his future projects as well as the "marvelous motor box"...

Some shots of Steve's collection of cars, all hard bodies that are GP 12 powered.  I especially like the hot rods at the right of the photo. Steve's friend brought along the "modified" # 78 that you see in the photos, it's a class that runs occasionally at The RACE PLACE.

Along with some 1/32 scale cars, Mikey also brought along a small stash of soon to become new/old car stuff ... I almost forgot, in keeping with the theme I brought along one of my old bras/wire cars pictured below. I don't know what chassis or motor it has, I hope to have it identified by the folks here on Slotblog.

Pete, your chassis appears to be built from the Dynamic Sidewinder Chassis Kit. The motor is a Champion. Unless the arm is tagged Grp. 20, it could be most any wind.

Great pics Pete!  Thank you for being the C.A.R.S. Ace Photographer! :)

Was a good time last night, I needed that badly.  Tough week at work.

Keep your eyes peeled for Shark-Infested waters!

Bill,

Thanks for the info. :good: :good: :good: The fact that it's a kit explains a lot, I'm referring to the areas of excess solder and the piece of brass that holds the guide.

Pete, that guide holder, the anglewinder bracket, & the shape of the pans are what clued me in as what it was. A photo I had saved from the net confirmed it was Dynamic. Incidentally, this particular kit could be built as either left-side-drive or right-side-drive, like yours, by flipping over the piano wire main rails, the anglewinder bracket, & the bat pans. I don't have one of these kits because they go for big bucks whenever they show on eBay, but I do have one of the Dynamic guide holders. :)

Bill,

Thanks again, the guide holder it the part that I recognized from my stash. I don't recall when I got it but I believe it was in a lot off ebay a while back. Right it's seized up but I hope to get it limbered up sometime in the near future, when I do I'll post some photos.

Try a squirt of WD-40 & let it sit for a couple days. That might loosen things up.
