are trackmate the only timing system that can handle bracetracing? or are there any other maybe mor affordable systems
thinking of starting up a little clubtrack for amusement in the winter season for our members

The older Triktrax system also does bracket racing. It is a non-computer connected system made in about 1990 - 2000 and is NOT repair supported any longer. If you have a system that works, it can work until it quits, though. The self contained optical program chips ran it in a DOS-like program. John Sojak of the Morris, IL area designed it and I have not been able to locate him for a LONG time.

have read about trixtrax in older post's and the problem with no support anymore
so it look's like we have to pay up for a trackmate system then
