Speed & Sport Hobbies
9333 E Apache Trail, Suite 104 (Just east of Ellsworth, behind Pizza Hut)
Mesa, AZ 85120
(No phone yet)
I will be at the location every day building tracks. Projected open date late March. May set up small mobile tracks until then.
Focus is on a flat 1/24 scale roadcourse track and 1,000' drag strip. Other roadcourse tracks in HO and smaller scales may be used.
This will be a racer-run raceway. Great racing and attitudes will be promoted. Anything else will be dealt with promptly and fairly.
Professional services such as birthday parties will be available via a party coordinator.
Our very small consortium of racers are looking for sponsors and partners for track building expenses. Please message me if interested. There is one very nice donor at this time and many labor helpers. Always seeking more.
This will be an exciting effort by local individuals who love and have great knowledge of various levels of slot car racing. We hope to find a connection that works for a very long time. Everything is possible.

Just thinking... two tracks in the southwest: Slot Car City in Las Vegas and now Speed and Sport Hobbies in Mesa, AZ. This sounds like a early Spring road trip.

BPR is over 300 miles away.
Am I happy?

Here are some basic plans I made for a six-lane 4" lane spacing. This was for a relatively skinny building.
Now however, we managed a larger space 29 x 73.5'. I'm suggesting we think about building an eight-lane approximate 135-145' flat track. We have some great electronics professionals and could put together a world class track.
I am sure the 1,000' drag strip will be off the wall and I'm trying to arrange it like BPR with pit tables all along the wall and the announcers booth at start line.

I ran out of allotted "likes" for the day, so...
I think I read this somewhere here on Slotblog: "Banked tracks are for fast cars, flat tracks are for fast drivers". Or something like that.

I like the top of #15 and the bottom #2, but I would flip #15 over and have it in a clockwise direction also. You will also have to think of where the marshalls will have to stand as you don't want them blocking the view if the drivers. Also having a tight(ish) lead on corner to the main straight can cause problems as people usually lean over to put their cars back on if they deslot. A more sweeping corner might be better (as in the bottom #2). The 4" lane spacing might be a bit tight for 1/24. i would use about 120mm as that seems to work quite well on the tracks we use. Dont make you tight corner to tight as 1/24 cars will just flick around them. Try and use 300mm radius as the minimum for any inside corner.
