This is a composite video that includes a lot of stills, and it is really a homage to the iconic James Dean put togther by the author of his biography.

I'm posting it because it has some great footage and pics of the California sports car racing scene in the mid-'50s. Music's not too bad either.

Never forget that first place goes to the racer with the MOST laps, not the racer with the FASTEST lap

He should have stuck to racing on the tracks! :shok:

He should have trailered the car to races.

The details of the James Dean crash have undergone significant revision in recent years. Seen these?

Thanks for posting that.

I have seen the footage many times, but finally I have the ability to scrutinize it closely. A lot of well-known cars shown at the time when sports car racing was more loosely regulated.

There are numerous copies on that video on YouTube but that was the best one I saw in terms of quality.

I enjoyed the "rare" photo's of when he didn't have a cigarette in his mouth.  :D
