Since everybody is up against a perceived time limit with the motor hand-outs, getting through tech the first time will help.

Being in line when the final call is announced is mandatory. There won't being any I just need a few more minutes.

The most seen problem recently in the ORS is the rear of the body being too high. The cut lines on the bodies do not guarantee a legal height. As Steve Koepp brought up in another post, the new Parma M7 has a cut line for a .790" tire, not the .812" used in the R4.

A usual R4 problem is the requirement for a grille on the coupes, F1, and any Can-Am not a Ti22.

Also on F1 if your body requires a windscreen make sure it isn't painted.

The only thing that won't get you sent to the back of the line is spoiler height; there will be scissors there to trim immediately. All other infractions will get you sent to the end of the line.

One thing to be aware of is at this time in the season if you are using the same car the front wheels do wear out; you may make clearance but the diameter is too small.

You don't want to hear the Tech Nazi say "No Tech For You"!

Eric, Mike, and myself will try to help as much as we can to answer all questions before the start of tech.

Will you be using the Swiss tool to check the cars including rear body height? Makes it easier on the racer to know or have the tool that tech is using. It's been good so far at the ORS.

The Swiss tool will be used, there will be one at my box at all times.

Section E, Rule 1a (all classes but Stock Car): Bodies must meet the following dimensions: .008" minimum thickness on the nose of the body without any tape and .007" minimum thickness on the sides of the body, which may be accomplished using tape that must cover the entire side from wheel well to wheel well (on F1 bodies, from the front axle opening to the rear of the body side).

The tape on the sides must be on the inside of the body.

Can we have our "race bodies" measured before tech? Say like Thursday? Not worried about the sides just want to make sure the nose meets requirements. Also if sides are deemed illegal and we have tape in our hands can we put tape on without going to end of line?

We will have the gauge available to check body thickness before tech, I will be there Thursday on. If the body is too thin in the tech line it is back of the line time. The tech line is not the place to assemble the car. :shok:

If you're willing to bring tape in line just put a piece on before you get in line and save yourself the problem.

Well, if it isn't deemed "too thin" i don't want no extra tape on it. ☺

The majority of bodies we see are all legal, no matter what brand in, production sometimes one side ends up thinner, most times it is just one side. Rare are special pulled from thin Lexan but there are some out there.

The biggest problem is marshaling a thin body as any body who has marshalled recent GTP cars can attest to.

Only the Parma BRM in F1 has no windscreen. All others must have a clear or tinted windscreen.

Grizzled slot car veteran, Tom Adams, just emailed me and fessed up as being the first winner of a C/R tech tool... as first guy in tech and first to fail. :laugh2:

Retro slot car world, I am here to save you the embarrassment.
