Seven locals were joined by three racers from Cottage Grove to race GT1 and Vintage NASCAR at STR on 3/20/17. Track conditions were good; however, no records were broken. The GT1 race was actually a mixed race. Some racers fielded their True Scale GT1 rides, while others ran their sports cars (some with supers). We raced Vintage NASCAR for the second week in a row in anticipation of Bobs OSCAR, Vintage NASCAR race to be held on Saturday, April first.

Bob and Jack both driving Enzos battled it out for the top step of the podium. The cars were quite evenly matched. In the end Jack edged out Bob by a single section. The race for third was between Ron Johnson (Ferrari 599 powered by a Super), Bob Iles (53 Corvette powered by a Super) and James (True Scale Jaguar XJR8LM). Rons quicker Ferrari 599 edged out James by two sections. Bob Iles was about a lap down.
 

 

 

 

 

 
 
Vintage NASCAR
 
James, Bob and Jack had the top rides. The second tier was at least .2 seconds per lap behind. All three drivers finished with identical lap counts. James edged out Bob by inches for the win. Jack was third only three sections behind.
