After putting if off for as long as I could, I have to upgrade Slotblog's forum software package to the newest version. I don't know exactly when this will happen, but I've kicked off the process. When I have a better idea of the exact time the upgrade will begin, I will post letting everyone know.

Two important things...

1) Slotblog will be offline for (hopefully) a short period of time, but it may be as much as a day or so. With nearly half a million posts, the main database is quite large and has to be converted for me by the software provider.

2) IPB3, which is the current forum software version we use, uses both a display name and a log-in name. The new IPB4 version only has a single name that is used for both the display name and log-in name.

If you currently use a log-in name different from your display name you will have to manually log-in with your display name the first time you come to Slotblog after the upgrade is complete.

Thus it might be a good idea to make a note of your display name exactly as it appears now.

Mike,

Almost certainly an issue with your computer, Mike. If you have access to someone else's computer, manually log in to Slotblog on it to see if the same thing happens.

Give me a ring or a PM and I'll make some suggestions.

Pretty sure Mike's problem is what's called a redirect, a type of virus infection in his computer.

As a first step, if Mike is on a recent version of Windows, would be to restore to a check point prior to the date/time he started having the problem.

This is sometimes an easy way to get rid of a browser hijack.

Mike K, since the "upgrade" I have the same problem as you. When I go to log on, I get hijacked here:

http://go.goadvs.com/

I am running the latest versions of Mozilla, Windows, and Microsoft protection, and I highly doubt I have an infection.

What did you do to fix yours?

Mike,

Just got off the phone with Pablo with a suggested approach for him. If you wanna give me a call, I'll point you at the same thing.

This problem is almost certainly what is called a browser redirect and they virtually always happen only on Windows machines due to malicious code being added to the Windows Registry.

As an addendum to Pablo's post #8, there has been no upgrade to Slotblog's forum software yet.

Still working on getting the host server software landscape updated so that the forum upgrade can be installed on it.

I believe Slotforum updated theirs in early March. It looks a bit different, but seems to work the same.

Mike,

PM sent. Greg's fix worked for me.

I was wrong in assuming by keeping my stuff updated and protected this stuff wouldn't happen - but it does.
