Isn't YouTube great?  The show also linked me to the 1965 RA 500.  I was at both of them with my then-new canvas tent, camping in Bills Hill campground driving my venerable MGA coupe.

Thunder 'hollow' is really "Thunder Valley" - a great sound track of motorsports.

 

FYI: A Chevette is a McKee Mk 1 that lead part of the race.  Bob McKee pioneered the American made mid engine V8 can/am era racers.
