FK130 armature shaft is not 2mm!

For the longest time I had the understanding that our FK130 size slot car motors have 2mm armature shafts and took it for granted that it was because it is stated that way. Perhaps you guys knew it all along - but after measuring a few motors with my new digital caliper - I discovered only now, that the shaft actually measures 1.48mm.
Why is it said to be 2mm?
Is it similar to buying a 2"x4" wood stud that it does not actually measure 2"?! You just round it off! Please enlighten me.
Thank you for your assistance. I always appreciate everyone's feedback.

There is a type of sealed motor used by the 1/32 home/club groups with a thinner, but longer can than a 130, that has 1.5mm shafts. I'm not 100% sure, but I think these might 50-type motors.
On the other hand somebody may have had 2mm shaft 130 motors turned down to 1.5mm for some special application. I have a couple industrial version Russkit 25 that were turned down this way.
I intend to live forever! So far, so good.

All FK motors sold for 1/24 commercial racing have 2MM shafts.
As Bill said, you must have something sold for 1/32 or industrial use.

Thanks for the replies.
Mike,
The motors I measured were older Falcon motors. I just now pulled out an Evil 9, ProSlot PS4002 and a couple of motors that Sir John H rewound for me. All the armature shafts measured with my digital caliper were 1.48mm.

Zero chance your statement is accurate.
The manufacture of pinion gears, the last 40 years(post 36D and older motors) or so, is so based on 2MM/.078", that it's not even noted on the packaging.

I appreciate your input. My digital caliper does not have a way to "zero it out." I doubt they are defective because I measured some material that I had ordered and it was exactly as spec'd.
I'll find some machine shop to assist in measuring the shafts for me. I'm just trying to verify for my own satisfaction.
Thanks, everyone.

What does it read when you switch from Metric to inches?
The shafts could not possibly be that small.

My mistake!!!
I did zero out my caliper (again) and now all the shafts measure 1.97mm.
My apologies for the inconvenience of this topic!
Thanks again David, Bill, Mike!

Ernie, 2mm bore pinions are much easier to find than 1.5mm ones.

Rummaging thru my slot car stuff, I just came across some older 130 size motors with an actual 1.5mm shaft. Hmm wonder how I can make these work - hahaha!
Thanks, guys!
