A good controller makes a big difference. I also agree that one in the $250-$300 range is all you will need.

Difalcos are one of the best electronic controllers on the market. I don't own one, but wouldn't hesitate buying one if I was looking for a new controller.

Is that good or bad?

I think that was intended for the OP, who is from Florida.

I would rate the Carsteen, the DR40 and a Third Eye over and above a Difalco.

Sorry....

Sorry....

I personally like the S&K over all of them.

Sorry not sorry.

That being said it's more about feel for the particular racer.

Most use Difalcos and win a lot of races.

I didn't know S&K made road race 'trollers. Thought they were Drag only.

So drag uses a different controller?

There are purpose built drag controllers. But in a pinch any controller can be used by just hooking up the black and white wire.

I'm pretty sure they are road race only.

Are you possibly thinking of Stealth?

So drag uses a different controller?

You should ask your raceway owner.

I've talked with your raceway owner, Charlie, and he seems like a great and knowledgable guy.

I think for the most part most electronic controllers when set up properly can help a driver be faster and more consistent.

For example, I was working with Vinny Cafazzo at RP8 this weekend on tuning for the can am race. Aside from car set up, one of the big improvements I help him with was moving from a Difalco with a 148 ohm resistor pack to one with a custom resistor pack of 55 ohms. This made the car much better out of the turns as the lower bands were faster reacting and helped to keep the RPM'S higher. This improved his time by almost a full tenth.

OK....I had an "alternative memory" . It was B & B who makes the drag controllers.

The S & K is a high end Euro product:
