Hi,

I need some help.

I am trying to find an auto store anywhere in the US that sells" Eagle One "Wet" Polish and Wax" part #2080614. This is discontinued but I am sure that somewhere there should still be some. It's all I use on my black '56 Corvette but I just ran out of it...

Thank you for your help...

Brian

Brian,

Did a little searching and this product looks to have been discontinued over a dozen years ago; at least I found posts from 2005 suggesting it had been discontinued before that. I fear you may end up disappointed.

BTW, just how many vintage Corvettes and Chevys do you have?

Nice car. I've had quite a few nice cars in my time including Black and Navy blue metallic Vettes.

I also owned a body shop way back when. A Vette I painted won first place at the Nassau Coliseum about 40 years ago. Man, I'm old.

I've tried a multitude of products and I think for the money Zaino is best.

You use just a tiny little bit with a multi step process. It leaves no residue in the cracks and on the rubber etc.

When I took the cars out after waxing the compliments were plentiful.

One of the most important things on a dark car is to not use any cloths/rags not made in the U.S.A. Must be 100% cotton

Extremely hard to find made in U.S.A, towels and wipes made overseas have abrasive fibers and processing that leave scratches.

I have some very old towels that were made here.

Just my 2 cents.

I use microfiber towels on all my stuff, have for a few years now, when I use any kind of wax.

I actually just finished freshening the paint on my '34 this week. I painted it with Lucite lacquer back in '83.   I used a wool pad and Turtle wax liquid polishing compound, then the blue foam pad on my wheel and 3M Perfectit to remove swirl marks. It cleaned up like 1984!!!

I have owned this car since the mid '70s. It's a survivor and the only polish I ever used on it is the one I am looking for.

Polishes are made with all different types of ingredients. I know from experience that some chemicals in polishes can actually ruin your paint. I know because I also have owned an auto body and collision shop for over 35 years and also have done many  show cars and all-out customs.

I just can't take a chance and risk hurting the paint on this car. It is not a base coat clear coat urethane type paint job. Early style paint jobs didn't have a hardener used to make them dry. They dried by the solvent or reducer evaporating from the paint. Modern paint has a catalyst to make them cure, kind of like how epoxy glue works.

Anyway, Lone Wolf, I also used to have customer cars in the Nassau colliseum car shows back in the '70s, won many awards. I only have like 11 old cars nowadays .Back in the '80s I was up to 35 finished classic cars in my collection.

I also collect gas pumps, juke boxes, Sting Ray bikes, mini-bikes, car related stuff like old oil cans, etc. I also have a couple hundred vintage slot cars and controllers and parts from the '60s...

Thanks for your help,

Brian

Have you called the company? Sometimes they have the same products sold for export as they sold in the US years before. Many changes are because of marketing rather than product improvement.

Then there's this place that's local to us. I haven't done business with them but they seem to be very customer-centric. I would guess they'd know of a suitable substitute.

There are many waxes on the market that will work fine on an old lacquer paint job.  That paint is not anything unusual.
