Thanks all, I will no doubt experiment with all your suggestions to see what works best for me. As long as I don't kill a motor outright and can get a good race or two out of one, I'll be satisfied.

In summary, you recommend more voltage and running Simple Green straight from its bottle.

Again, my gratitude.

A guy at our track ran it in simple green for 30 mins and water for 10,results? hes kicking our *** in Group F Lol. The motors are crap. Shame ya have to spend 70bucks to get five, then cull them out to get one that runs good, JK needs to do something to improve them.

Are you sure it's 30mins. Most drop motors for about 10 seconds using the simple green method.
Test, test, test and go test some more.

Last trial with four Hawk 7's. Trial run straight out of box by about 8 Volts, then ran in water 45 seconds, at 4 - 5 Volts about, just keeping out of cavitating. Then dried and test run, compared by my precise  ear. All motors sounded better. Put them into order by sound and went to the track. Test drive on our King at almost racing voltage gave a spread from 6.5 secs to 5.8 secs. And the order was the same that I got from the sound test. The best one was used in a 4 hours enduro - it ran very fast for 80 minutes and then just only fair rest of the race.

Aren't the Hawk 7 brushes softer than the HRs?  I would think 10 sec in the Simple Green would be plenty.  I plan on doing some later this week when my garage gets below the Amazon rain forest temps. it's had for the last week+.

I would rather do 5 sec. at a time. If it takes two or three times it is better than I went to far and can't put it back.

TONY he had brushes and smoked our butts with that motor, last night it was still running strong,CRAZY. Bottom line, they are communist built crap and we al know it. The little proslots are no better. Shame there is no warranty or I have a 12 pack of them to ship to jk.

I think you might be expecting too much from 12.95-14.95 motors.

Guys that race 100.00 motors, seriously, have many, because they are not all fast.

The Proslot 4002FK's are pretty darn good.

Below are the results from our Group F race from last night.

It's summer, so only four racers, but look how close the times are.

Especially, the last heat, 3.4's for all 4 racers.

Out of those four  racers, two are guys that will search for a motor (1st & 3rd).

The other two racers (2nd & 4th), buy a motor and use it, until it's unusable.
