From the the Terms of Use:

Any and all subjects on the various forums must refer to our hobby: that of playing with miniature electric cars, model cars, radio-control cars, and/or other forms of miniature and full-size automotive enjoyment.

Recently, there has been a rash of posts from members of both political ideologies, using legitimate threads to segue into insults of the other.

Of course, you are free to post as you please on sites like Facebook.

Mike's main point, one which I wholeheartedly agree with, is politics is a subject we simply don't want to see here at Slotblog.

Plenty of other places on the net to engage in political 'discussion.'

The TOU probably need a minor updating.

If anything, to eliminate the reference to the defunct Freeblog.

Personally, I think getting rid of "Freeblog" was one of the best things to happen to this place. There was nothing but some pretty divisive and downright nasty stuff in there. In the end, that could only turn some off to this place, and there were some who posted in there exclusively, never posting in any of the "slot-car-related" forums.

I certainly would like a place to post things that aren't car related but still has relevance to the membership such as the Cal-EPA and the Air Quality Boards goings-on... I have done so in the past and posted those things merely as a "look what they're doing now" and "this is coming to your town soon" information bulletins and not political statements. I like to think I have used discretion in some posts that were clearly off-topic.

The removal of Freeblog was a great move that has improved the board even though I disagreed at the time (I not that vocal about board management... I managed a BBS back in the big, bad 1980s so I heavily sympathize with Greg).

I agree, no political statements in here!

Anyway I saw and appreciated that members have the freedom to post off-topic sometimes. I especially love those cooking recipes so far from my Mediterranean culture.

Phil,

I would welcome such a place to go 'off-topic' but am unsure what to do to implement that idea. Any suggestions?

Greg,

I just want to thank you for your commitment to the slot car community. My hat is off to you. :hi: You assembled a team that has advanced communications at a record-setting pace. It is a great privilege to be able to post here. I feel blessed and thank you for the opportunity to share thoughts with other slot car enthusiasts.

Greg, no suggestions. Can't really think of anything that wouldn't be a larger burden than what you already have.

From my perusal of the attendees at most racers, slot racers are generally particularly well fed.  :)

One never sees very many "larges" requested in slot car T-shirt orders. :laugh2:  Yet some call this hobby a sport... :dash2:

Me... I'm just a large... the only reason I'd have XL is to keep from having a belly shirt and that's not a good thing at my age....

40 years ago XL - now M; quite contradictory for a slot car driver. But failing knees do force some harsh measures...
