It's definitely a mishmash of design elements. The nose has a Scarab look to it, except for the flat-sided fenders. The roofline and fin remind me of an Alfa Romeo concept/show car (the name of which escapes me at the moment). The wheel openings suggest that it was designed to be used, or was used, with gigantic off-road tires (this makes no sense). And the insanely flared rear finders...?

I don't know what it is, either, but I like it. How wide is it, and what's the wheelbase (approx.)?

I think it is a very rare "Rocketeer" body. (LOL)

Interesting car! I would qualify it a bonafide thingie as well! Never seen this one before otherwise...

Thank you!

I still have no clue as to what it is. Where did you get it?

I believe this one was in an ebay lot that was actually up a few weeks before being bought!

I had noticed this, and figured it was a homemade Thingie, modified from another body, but seems to be vac-formed in one piece - is that it Mark?

Hi Dave, reminds me of the Heinz Phantom Corsair. Hi Don, definitely vac formed one piece.

Mike Zimmerman carved and made his own body for one of the Thingie Proxy races, that I hosted a stage of.

It had a Rocketeer feel to it.

It was awesome.

Hi Maximo, cool sketch, glad my old unknown vac has got the creative juices flowing, and tip of the hat to Dave for naming it.

Mike Zimmerman is a talented thingie body maker, great family man and esteem member of the Kingdom of Thingies!

I am prepping a new thingie-in-the-works using one of his bodies! Actually, two projects using the bodies of 32 Deuce!

This isn't the particular body, but it's probably a Mike Zimmerman body.

IIRC, this one was entered by Gary Vogeler as the Rocket 88.

IIRC, Mike's was all riveted up, more spaceship looking.

It sort of reminds me of the Falcon, in Jimmy Stewart's (first starring role) movie "Speed"...1936...

Not quite it...just kinda similar...has a 1930's Art Deco look to it I guess...

Hi Gene, no tin toy, this is a vacuum form slot car body with a kid's paint job.

Mark, I think he just meant it was vacuumed over an old tin toy, which is certainly a possibility - very 50s or 60s style spaceship style!
