I think I got Flickr to work once, but it seemed a little weird to figure out how to actually upload and share the photos. I had an easier time (*I'm probably just dense) with this place recently:

What else is out there?

I opened an account last week and loaded 40 pix or so. It was easy, took just a few minutes and seems easy to access and provide links. I also wonder how it can survive with no advertising or fees. Every site I've ever used either ended up charging or shutting down.

Why not just store your images on your computer or an external hard drive and upload directly to Slotblog?
Or am I not understanding, or missing, something?

Paul,
That's what I've always done. Whenever I wanted a photo, I'd copy & save to my computer and I've got the pic forever. Too many threads on here as well as other sites I follow have the photos eliminated by one method or another rendering the thread useless !
I find an old thread, read several posts and then come upon the dreaded little X ...

It takes much less space to store a link to an image stored by another site than to store the full image on this site.
All the storage for the site comes at a price I believe.

I just logged into imgur via FB - seems pretty easy and functional (after Photobucket and Images#it).

I do store all my pix on my computer and an external hard drive, but I like to have albums that can be accessed by anybody at any time.

I think John is thinking about a central location where photos can be stored *and* easily linked to rather than uploaded every time. If I'm wrong, sorry.
BTW... USB 1 terabyte hard drives are below $70. They don't even need a power supply or AC cord. Plug and go right from the USB port. I have one used as a "Bootable Installer System Drive" for my Macs in case the HDs die and the machine won't boot. Haven't had to use it yet....

I'm curious myself if posting straight from my computer cuts into the owner's profits.

Hi Pablo,
I'd be surprised if posting images here directly DIDN'T affect data usage/bandwidth and site cost. Still, how do you post straight form your computer without hosting the image somewhere???

When you click the "More Reply Options" icon, it should go a a screen that say "Choose Files".
When you click on that, your folders should come up, and click on the appropriate pic.
Open that file and it should load to that post.
You can click on "Add to Post".
If not, it will say "Attached Images" above the pic.

Mike, I remember Greg posting that he preferred photos to be uploaded to SlotBlog so they don't disappear at a later date like John's have. To keep the pics intact for future reference. But that was a long time ago. I'm not sure he wants the added expense of hosting the photos at this point.

I'm not answering for Greg, but if photo memory costs were a big concern, we'd be seeing all the imbedded videos disappear first.
I intend to live forever! So far, so good.

Hey Phil,
I've been meaning to ask you.
When did someone try to steal your name, that you have it registered, and trademarked?

Does embedding a YouTube link create a large file? I've never thought about it before.

I just upload my photos direct to Soltblog. I try to resize everything to 800 x 600. That still gives good quality and uses less storage space.

If you have photo editing software, try to save your images at a resolution of 300 dpi (72 dpi is still OK) and the image at a maximum of 600 (h) x 800 (w).

John, I am sure if all these pictures caused Greg problems there'd be a series of postings about it. A while ago I was concerned about the YouTube videos embedded in posts using up Slotblog bandwidth/storage and Greg says those videos don't "count" against Slotblog. I'm sure the pictures aren't as much a problem as you might think. When Greg chimes in we'll know for sure.
