75 Best Hot Dogs 2017
You know it's a legit list when they include Fat Johnny's, which just beat out Portillo's LOL.

Never forget that first place goes to the racer with the MOST laps, not the racer with the FASTEST lap

It was only semi-dangerous back then. LOL
KVP,
Dick Portillo use to wash his pots in his bath tub at his apartment in Summit.
That didn't stop Berkshire (not Hathaway) from eventually paying him $900,000,000 for his restaurants.

Mike, it wouldn't surprise me if Fat Johnny didn't wash his pans somewhere close to the bathtub in that joint.

Glad to see our local chain Yocco's came in at #9. Lee Iococca's uncle started the first one.

Fat Johnnie's may actually be cleaner than Portillo's as far as prep equipment is concerned. Smaller place,
easier to clean. My buddie's kid worked at the Carol Stream Portillo's, and I was behind the counter once.
The cheap help did not go out of their way to "sanitize" back there. Still, they have to pass health inspection,
either way. One thing most people don't know, is that the grills are never cleaned. It ruins the "non-stick"
properties of the cooking surface.

I maintain that a Sabrett hot dog from a NYC street vendor (aka dirty water dogs) are the ultimate in Hot Doggery. YMMV
Cheers
Anybody remember Nedick's?

There was place in Chicago on Harlem or around there that looked like it had been there from the 50's.

Hard to pass a cart. We still buy the Red Onion sauce in a jar down here.
- Since this is the recipe thread. Put that in when making meat loaf, amazing!
Nedick's... of course. Dog and an orange please.
How about Horn and Hardart's "The Automat"?
Rutt's Hut Wins out of this 75! But .... My all time favorite is The Windmill in Freehold NJ. Our car club (BeBop Cruisers) would meet there on Rt9 Friday nights.

Been to Pink's and Ben's in D.C. Think I'll go to Joe Schmoe's Fri while I'm at BPR. A couple minutes away.
Would be a hoot to go to Martinsville for a race and a couple of those 'dogs.

Better yet is the famous Bologna Burgers (sliced dog) at South Boston Speedway .

Has anyone tracked their weight since this "Racer's Recipes" forum started. I think I've gained 10 lbs.

Swiss,
Now look what you've gone and done! Geez, now I'm grilling some dogs, having a beer, and watching the Dodgers.
Excellent!
