Late, I know but haven't been able to get here to test until today. The Motherlode is clean and very stuck. It's as fast as I've seen it but a little touchy to drive b/c of the high bite. We won't need to worry about being loose.

The King is dirty but bite is good. Power will drop off with a full track so practice times will not reflect in the race. I ran both with the charger on and with it off as we normally run. With the charger on, times were about 2 tenths faster but with it off, the cars handled a lot better so total laps wouldn't be much different. I suspect the racing will be a lot cleaner with the charger off and not as much risk of smoking motors.

We'll run our normal order.

  1. F-1 on the Motherlode
  2. Can Am on the King
  3. Pro Coupes on the King

What sort of voltage are you getting on both tracks, with and without the charger?

It's not dirty,....It's rubbered in. :)

What are they using as a battery charger?

According to the meter on a 3rd eye controller, 14.2 on, 13.0 off. In either case, with 2-3 cars, it will drop about 1-1.5 volts.

Sam, can't tell ya what kind specifically but will check when I get there today. I can tell ya that it's a large, wheeled unit that's maybe 3 feet tall. I honestly don't know much at all about the subject.

Sounds like an automotive battery charger/booster. Not an ideal piece of equipment for powering slot cars. Good reason for not having it on during racing.

They should invest in a good quality power supply. Leave the charger for boosting dead car batteries out in the parking lot.

Sounds like a truly retro track power system. Folks from the north east will remember this from CC Raceway. All you need to complete the picture is some 24 wire C can motors, heavy anglewinder wing cars, and  a LOT of glue.
